LOSING as opposed to WINNING

I am sure most of you have theories on this and would like to hear your thoughts.

Lets use a random monetary figure that most can relate to....say $5,000.

Why is when your UP 5,000 it seems like very little, but when your DOWN 5,000 it seems like 20x more than it actually is???

When im up $5000, I am going to spend it and be back to even bankroll wise, but when down $5000, I gotta work hard(er) to get back even & then start over to try and buy some toys.

Cause its easier to spend someone elses money than it is to spend (or lose) your own...

My personal reasoning is I just HATE TO LOSE and although taken in stride, NEVER ACCEPT IT!!

I could be pitching pennies on the sidewalk and I just HATE TO LOSE!!!

This attitude was a problem for a relatively short while in that I chased to not lose on a given night. OK, that is not a problem now and my bankroll thanks me. Get em tommorrow!!!

ego and greed....i'm always thinking there's no way i should lose..and when i'm winning i'm always thinking "man, this is easy, i should be winning alot more than this"...

Great traits to have, if like you say, one can avoid the chasing.

NOBODY should ever accept losing or say they just bet "for fun".

If that were true, I recommend they find another hobby.

99% of the people that say they just bet "for fun"..... are not being truthful with themselves.

Its all about WINNING!!!.......much of this profession is attitude..........similar to golf.

fishhead, it has to do to a large degree with addiction & brain chemistry, gambling is very similar to using drugs, in fact studies have shown it has more similarities to cocaine than any other. Some of you may laugh but gambling actually changes the chemistry in your brain...The euphoric feeling that you may have after a big win is the direct result of Serotonin neurotransmitters being released at a greater rate than they normally would be. Seretonin is a drug in your brain which is responsible for your moods. Taking Extasy also releases Seretonin in your brain. anyway I am rambling...but beleive me when I say it has alot to do with brain chemistry, addiction, etc.

Because you can win an infinite amount of $, most of us can only lose a finite amount of $. Your a lot closer to losing all your $, then you are to winning an infinite amount.
