In a curious development, the best two teams in the league square off in the opening round of the playoffs: blackhawks vs Blues

and the 3rd and 4th best teams also meet in the first rd.
Kings vs Sharks

west is tuff

Bruins are the best team. Detroit is finally healthier and could surprise. Blues slumping down the stretch. Hawks missing Kaine but should have him soon. Anyone can win the cup. Just making the playoffs is tough.

Only one canadian team left to cheer for. Go Habs!

Bruins are really good. Howard will need to be spectacular for the Wings to win, and I don't think he has it in him this year.

I think Chicago and STL go 7, and the Sharks and Kings go 7. I think the Pens sweep.

Avalanche have received zero respect from linemakers all year. I got them at 60/1 early, they go on to beat out the Blues and Blackhawks and now are 14/1? Playoffs are a crap shoot, much like baseball.

I think Colorado at 14/1 and Tampa Bay at 25.5/1 offer the best value.

the thing about any team in the playoffs is if a goalie gets hot at the right time he can steal a series or two for his team

zetterberg was at practice today i read if he can come back i think that makes the series a whole lot more interesting and the pens only faced bob once this year back in oct the chased him early but that was a long time ago and we all know how fleury plays in the playoffs, shaky at best

you loco. Look at that team. Loaded with toughness, scoring and great goaltenders. They would win the West also. Antone of the top 4 team in either conference could lose in the first round. Should be fun to watch.

Bruins the ONLY team in the East with a shot of winning it all. 5 teams from the West are good enough.

Pittsburgh is Pittsburgh. Lots of skill, but not enough grit or heart.

the problem with the pens is when they play boston or philly for that matter they try to outhit them thats not what they should be doing they should use their talent and stick to their game plan but instead they run around out of position looking to hit someone they have grit and heart but they just need to figure out how to use it

As has been the case since 1979-80, 16 teams will qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This season, however, the format is a set bracket that is largely division-based with wild cards. :think2:

not really sold on this bracket style playoffs

Pens as the 2 in the east get a 5 or 6 seed and the Bruins as the 1 get a 3 or 4 seed next round

its gonna be different but bottom line, you just need to win 16 games. I am ok with it.
