Giants (-4) vs. Eagles)...The Giants have earned their bye and are now ready to meet the Eagles this Sunday for the third time this season. These two teams split their first two games with each winning on the other team's turf. The first meet was a shoot out with the Giants prevailing 36-31in Week #10 at Philly. The Eagles countered by beating the Giants in Week #14 (20-14) at Giants Stadium. Both teams know each other well and both have good defenses. The Giants first six games of the year were fairly soft with the exception of their game against Washington in the Week #1. Weeks 2 through 6 saw them play @ St. Louis, home against Cincy, home against Seattle, @ Cleveland and home against San Fran. All soft and no playoff teams. They went 5-1 losing only to Cleveland which indicates that they took care of business against their weak opponents. Since that time their schedule was brutal, to say the least. They played @ Pitt, home against Dallas, @ Philly, home against Baltimore, @ Arizona, @ Washington, home against Philly, @ Dallas, home against Carolina and @ Minny. Over that stretch they went 7-3 straight up for a 12-4 record overall. The three games that they lost over the last 10 weeks of the season were home against these Eagles, @ Dallas and @ Minny. Looking more closely at these contests, we need to note a few facts. When they played the Eagles @ home in December they were without Brandon Jacobs and had lost Plaxico Buress that week due to the infamous gun incident. So to say that they were not at full strength offensively is an understatement. The loss @ Dallas was a game that the Giants did not need at all because no matter what the outcome of that game was, the bottom line was that they had to win the following week at home against Carolina in order to clinch the #1 seed for the NFC. They did lose at Dallas (20-8) as Brandon Jacobs sat out and then proceeded to win with Jacobs playing the following week against Carolina in O/T. The third loss @ Minny was in Week 17 when there absolutely was no incentive for the Giants other than to try and stay sharp going into the bye. These used mostly scrubs in the game and lost in the final 5 seconds when Minnesota kicked a field goal and won 20-19. Even with all their secondary people playing and Minnesota playing at full strength and desperately needing a win to clinch their division the Giants were as competitive as ever.

Looking at Philly's schedule this year they finished 9-6-1. Of their 9 wins four came against playoff bound teams (home against Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Arizona and @ Giants. We spoke about the Philly game already and Arizona was a weak division winner. Atlanta had a great season with an excellant rookie and a new coach, but they rare on a learning curve. There only quality win was against Pittsburgh at home. Their remaining 5 wins were home against St. Louis, @San Fran, @ Seattle, home against Cleveland and home against Dallas. Their tie came against lowly Cincinnatti (13-13). Looking at how this season unfolded, the Giants won every game they needed to win and proved that they could win the big game without Plaxico Buress (see Carolina win). Philly was dominant only at home and lost a significant game in December to Washington (10-3) when it counted the most. I posted a write up on that game and predicated Washington to have 60% chance to win outright. With Jacobs healthy and well rested and Philly having to travel once again on a short week as well as McNabb's propensity to throw picks when the pressure is on, the Giants are in a great position. I am a die hard Cowboys fan and I always root against the Giants because they are in the same division, but you can bet that I will have my money on them this weekend as I see blowout written all over this match up no matter how you slice it.. Giants by at least 10 points. Good luck to all !!

:nono5: its the playoffs, 4get the regular season!

With all due respect, if you know anything about the NFL, you just can't forget about the regular season. A team's strength of schedule goes a long way in determining how seasoned a team is and how prepared they are for the tougher opponents. The purpose of the regular season is to win as amy games as possible and become battle tested by playing and beating the stronger opponents. This ultimately determines who the best teams are and who will survive. It is a measuring stick for the playoffs and prepares a team for any challenge. If you play a weak schedule during the season and play very few highly competive playoff bound teams it will come back to bite you when you face the much togher teams in the playoffs. Based on your answer you are obviously either a big Eagles fan who doesn't want to face the facts or someone that really doesn't know the intricate part of breaking down football games. Good luck in your investment. You'll need it.

you hit the nail on the head.. i know nothing about the game of football... I only know that i havent had to work a day in the last ten years due to my inferior knowledge of the subject... the fact that you use the word BLOWOUT, when analyzing this game, tells me ALL I NEED TO KNOW.. :ohno:

good luck with your plays

if you know anything about football, you should be smart enough to realize this will not be a blowout. Regardless what side your on, you have to respect each team being from the NFC east and realize each team knows each other in and out. This game is going to come down to who excutes to the finest detail every play in all four quaters. That is what its going to take to get a win in this game. There will not be a blowout either way, this game will be close the whole way and more than likely will come down to the fourth quarter. If the eagles have the lead I'm am confident with the eagles being able to seal the deal in the fourth. If the eagles are down 2 or 3 and have to drive 80 yards to seal the deal, I just do not trust Donny football to drive down the feild and lead his team to victory esp. since the game is in NY. Either way this game is a coin flip right now and it comes down to who excutes all facets of the game in all four quaters. GL to whichever side you are on. I am a diehard eagles fan, so this game will be pure enjoyment for myself.

you can flush all that strength of schedule bullshit down the shitter.

Eagles have been playing Must Win games since they were 5-5 while the Giants clinched early & lost some momo in December. Sometimes the time off works against you when you haven't played an important game in 3 weeks.

I bet the Giants come out flat & have to play catchup during the game.

Giants blowout :missingte

Brandon Jacobs will be the gamebreaker, he's well rested now since the last loss to the Eagles where he only played 1 half due to injury.

I DO THINK, THE REGULAR SEASON NEEDS TO FORGOTTEN BUT, I DO RECALL WATCHING THE G-MEN GOING TO OT WITH THE LOWLY BENGALS AT HOME! AND LOSING TO THE LOWLY BROWNS, A TEAM THAT COULD NOT SCORE ON USC!! THEY PUT UP AROUND 37 POINTS I BELIEVE ON THE G-MEN

THROW AWAY THE REGULAR SEASON RECORDS,

TAKE THE TEAM THAT IS HOT WITH ALOT TO PROVE (ESPECIALLY COACH AND QB) :103631605:drink:

EAGLES WILL WIN THIS GAME.....

BUT IN REGARDS TO YOUR THREAD, IT WILL NOT BE A BLOW OUT, ESPECIALLY AGAINST THE D-FENSE THE EAGLES WILL BRING TO THE MEADOWLANDS..

Not really. I was pulling for them as a fan, but I thought that based on the game they played earlier in the season when they beat Philly 41-37 that they were outplayed in that game even though we won it. Throw in that Marion Barber was hobbled by his little toe and it was a recipe for a possible disaster, which is exactly what it turned into. It was painful watching that game. We need a new head coach. I do not like Wade Phillips as a headcoach. He 's a good coordinator, but the is not head coach material. Too soft on the players and doesn't keep them in check. Jerry Jones likes him because he is a puppet for him. You need Bill Cowher or someone similar to keep T.O. and Pacman Jones under wraps. We have a ton of talent, but Philips is not taking full advantage of it. Meanwhile we are stuck with Philips for another year. Keep up the faith..

I didn't leave it out. I mentioned it in my discussion. It was a good wakeup call for them as they were 4-0 and in cruis econtrol. I'd rather lose to the Browns who have some on talent on both sides of the ball, then finish in a tie with Cincy like the Eagles did. That teram is in total disarray and could not get out of their own way...

Danasal,, really think the loss of Buress is something not being accounted for in this particular matchup... Buress has really been a PROBLEM for the Eagles secondary in the past----MAJOR PROBLEM... Most top receivers that the eagles have faced in the last decade have been gameplanned for,and for the most part were neurtralized to a degree.. Plaxiglass has absolutely owned the Birds recently.. From what Ive seen, he has time and again been the Eagles achilles heel, as far as WRs are concerned... He has made some BIG catches at critical points of some BIG TIME games... this is a MAJOR REASON i dont like the Giants this week, but not sure I can pull the trigger on the Birds, either... I just dont see blowout, when looking at this game.. GL

I fully agree that losing Plaxico hurts their chemistry as far as the offense is concerned. This guys always has to have double coverage on him because he is THAT GOOD. With that said, they did a great job beating Carolina in that showdown. Big key for the Giants is Brandon Jacobs. Run that ball and take some pressure off the receivers. For me personally the Giants have the better defense and the better offense. They have the edge on coaching. Reid has never won a Superbowl nor has McNabb. There is something to be said about that. Tom Coughlin is proven as a winner. He was a proven winner back in 1995 when he coached the Jacksonville Jaguars and knocked off Buffalo and Denver on the road and both of those teams were lights out at home. Impossible to beat. He beat them back to back weeks in the playoffs. I have a lot of repect for this guy. Eveytime people want his neck he responds and quiets all the critics. McNabb, for all his talent, always chokes in the big situation when the pressure is on. If he is down 3 or 4 points in the game in the 4th and is pressing it I predict he wil throw a crucial pick or fumble the ball.
