I have a bad habit of playing teasers along with my straight bets. Looking for some feedback on playing teasers. Should i stay away from them and just play straights. Alot of time i will tease a side and total in the same game together. Bad strategy?

In college, it's considered a bad strategy, but some people seem to make it work. NFL seems to be the better choice for playing teasers. I think in the long run they are a losing proposition. I think it's fun to pick/play them, but in terms of dollars, you better know what the hell you're doing or you will be down long-term.

They are not a sucker bet. Pros have been beating the Books on these lately, but now the BOoks are increasing the odds and some say Ties lose! Not good.

Better in the NFL but not so much on totals.

Best plays are crossing over the prime numbers.

So:

Tease a Dog up to +7.5, 8 or 8.5, crossing 7.
Tease a Dog up to +10.5+, crossing 10 and 13 and 14 if you can.

Tease a Favorite down below -3.
Tease a Big Fav down below -7.

Doesn't do much good to tease a Team from -3 to +3. Maybe to +3.5 or +4, but some do not like crossing 0 as the 1s and 2s are kinda wasted points.

I've seen some math showing that it works in the NFL when crossing the 3 & 7 like you say and 5dimes proves the point when they move their lines to 9 to avoid these teasers. But in CFB, I say grow a pair and pick a side. Show me some pros who tease CFB, they call them "teasers" for a reason.

Very general answer: bad
More specific answer: you can make good teaser bets if you are selective and discipline.

Basically what Barnstorm said, what i'd add is just remember in a teaser you are buying and paying for every half point. So you need to cross the key #s to try to make it worthwhile. 3 is the big one followed by 7, 10, 6, 4, 14.
The other factor is the total. If the projected total is high then every point is worth less and this is why college isn't a positive bet. I look for games where I can cross the 3,4,6 and 7 with a total under 45.

One would probably be better off looking for reasons to make fewer bets, rather then using teasers to make more bets imo.

Yeah I got burnt on 3 team teaser getting 13 with steelers last nite and being that 12 of last 13 ravens/steelers games were decided by 4 pnts or less, i thiught that was a gimme but I got screwed since I won Louis tech & steelers under in the teaser..hate them but still get trapped into doing them along with the 2 team tease..no matter the sport they suck but yet I still do them myself

dont do it in college. i know some pros and semi-pros will throw one down a week in the right situation but they should be rare in your betting arsenal.

in NFL as explained above, there can be good situations to do it but most books make the odds really crappy to do it. the best book for teasers IMO is 5Dimes but they set lines to help avoid getting too much teaser action
