I love hot dogs especially the ones at the movie theater, 7-Eleven's and ballgames. However when I try to make them at home they taste like shit. On the gas grill at home they are either burnt or undercooked and boiling or steaming them on the stove sucks.

Has anyone ever bought one of those home hot dog griller's before? Do they work good and taste just like the dogs at the movies and 7-elevens?

Man, I have not had hotdogs in so so long. I'm a frying pan, tiny bit of butter guy.

Think buster is right though, you need the roto effect to achieve that movie theater taste.

If you want the best hot dog you have to go to the Varsity in Atlanta and get the chili cheese dog.

who the fuck are you? the jeff dowder of the RX

About to break into 2002 in the PH archive. Took me about six months to go through late 99 and all of 2000.

Not sure why 2001 is not archived. Maybe because Phil went batshit for a while after 9/11.

Main thing about hot dogs and why some taste like shit...a lot of people do not read what they are buying..

Make sure they are 100% pure beef..

The pork, chicken and turkey ones taste like shit!

I think the pork ones are gross. I disagree on turkey, but those are more pricey anyways and are for when you feel like being calorie concious. I don't think I have had chicken.

I like the grilled hot dogs. Anyone one have Ted's Hot Dogs out of Buffalo? They have them in Arizona. Man are they good!

most people come to buffalo expecting to be blown away by the chicken wings, for obvious reasons. but the hot dogs in the city are ridiculously good. ted's is really good ... and imo its not even the best in the area. not even a big fan of hot dogs but they are addicting in buffalo. :103631605

I like their hot sauce.

Here is a review of one of their stores:

All the Buffalo-area favorites are here: charcoal-grilled, poked, and slashed Sahlen's hot dogs with Ted's homemade hot sauce, fresh-cut onion rings, hand-dipped shakes, and loganberry. The menu also includes Polish and Italian sausages, jumbo dogs, footlongs, brats and white hots, chicken sandwiches, and burgers. After placing an order, our appetites are piqued as we watch our dogs sputter and sizzle over charcoal as the grillman prods them and rolls them over the hot grates. The dogs develop a crusty exterior to go with that unique Western New York pork-and-beef hot dog taste (pork/beef hot dogs are common pretty much everywhere, but somehow the ones made in Western NY are special). Tell the dresser how you'd like it garnished; we (well, one of us) can't resist the hot sauce, but it's not absolutely necessary to fully enjoy these dogs.
