Ground Zero Suicide Inspired by Election

<!-- TextStart -->NEW YORK - A 25-year-old man from Georgia who was apparently distraught over President Bush's re-election shot and killed himself at ground zero. Andrew Veal's body was found Saturday morning inside the off-limits site, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. A shotgun was found nearby, but no suicide note was found, Coleman said.

Veal's mother said her son was upset about the result of the presidential election and had driven to New York, Gus Danese, president of the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, told The New York Times in Sunday's editions.

Friends said Veal worked in a computer lab at the University of Georgia and was planning to marry.

"I'm absolutely sure it's a protest," Mary Anne Mauney, Veal's supervisor at the lab, told The Daily News. "I don't know what made him commit suicide, but where he did it was symbolic."

Police were investigating how Veal entered the former World Trade Center site, which is protected by high fences and owned by the Port Authority.

I saw that. I doubt Bush's re-election was the only reason he killed himself.

Question...If there was no suicide note, how can they be sure that he killed himself over the election? That's the liberal way of interpreting things. Guy upset because Bush won election. Guy kills himself. Conclusion: Guy killed himself because the election.

The headline "Ground Zero Suicide Inspired by Election" certainly doesn't cast any doubt about why he committed suicide. More liberal spun horsesh*t.

I guess it's impossible that he could have been distraught over the horrible deaths of the 3000 Americans on 9/11.

Do you see how subtly the spin is woven into the "news"? Especially newspaper headlines. Many people only scan the headlines and most others just go as far as to read the first sentances or paragraph, a fact of which the newspapers are very aware of. Anyone else besides me getting fed up with this style of reporting?

I'm guessing they talked to his mother as stated in the second paragraph of the article?

Apparently Veal talked with his mother before leaving?

well it is possibly a combination of both

he could have lost some loved/close ones in 9/11 and in his opinion it is G-Dub's fault. having to see georges face for 4 more years probably wasnt helping him put the ordeal in the past

I read it. He was upset about Bush winning. He didn't tell his mother he was thinking of ending his life because of it. Millions of people were upset about Bush winning, but they found a way to live with it and not kill themselves. I think the story is bullsh*t. It doesn't really matter if that was his reason or not for doing it. What I don't like is when questionable assumptions are being presented in the media as fact.

Even though the Bush re-election offers "promise" for the death of America, even I find it impossible to blame this on Bush. He's set records for executions, has killed 100,000 in acts of genocide and likely has the honorable Paul Wellstone murdered, but this time Bush is clearly not the man to blame.

Fret not neo-cons, Bush has millions of people left to murder in the Axis of Evil .. you know -- to liberate them.

Lander, you should submit a resume to get on the Bill Maher show as a writer. You'd have a blast. I bet they pay well, and you'd be good at it. I'm totally serious. You live for this kind of stuff.

Could you imagine the reaction in the writing room when Lander lets it slip that he is anti-Abortion? How would Lander react to being lumped in with the "self-righteous, gun-totin', military-lovin', sister-marryin', abortion-hatin', gay-loathin', foreigner-despisin', non-passport-ownin' rednecks, who believe God gave America the biggest dick in the world so it could urinate on the rest of us and make their land 'free and strong'."?

I like the part about having the big dick, but can we leave 'gay' out of the same sentence? I don't want that Sullivan fairy getting the wrong idea the next Mahr invites the 'conservative queer' representative to the show.

Speaking of politicians daughters, those little Bush sluts are looking good these days. Not as hot as those Kerry girls, but definately looking juggy.
