This wager is because I believe they have a SHOT at the playoffs, and NOT winning it all. Its strictly a HEDGE bet, with great opportunity, and a rather huge payoff if they somehow found a way to win the SB.

Its like looking at stocks, you find a company (lions) who you believe is undervalued, invest a small portion, and hope for a nice return.

Clearly the odds-makers thought the Lions had a decent shot to make the playoffs. Before the season started they were only about +350 to play in the post season and -450 to not make it. Compare the closing line on the Miami Dolphins to make the playoffs which was about +2100 for the "yes" & higher than -10,000 on the "no" @ Pinnacle.

Your reasons for liking them pre-season were very sound. I had Ben at 50/1 to win mvp. Talk about a bad call. Lol I personally didn’t like Detroit because Patricia is simply a very bad head coach. He is a morale killer with bad in game decisions and poor game planning.
