I hate the Yankees, but thought this was a good play on them.

They need a win badly and Mussina has been lights out lately especially on the road.

Nice start so far.

They need a win badly

you know who gets into spots over and over where they need to win badly? mediocre teams.

great fade when people start betting overhyped underachieiving teams who need to win badly

Its not like the Twins DONT. They are in a pennant race

I fade the Yankees all the time, but liked them in this spot. They rocked Blackburn earlier this year and Mussina is their best pitcher.

just remember, anytime you catch yourself saying "that team really needs a win" remember the other team isnt going to roll over and die because of that. and maybe ask yourself, why is it a team badly needs a win? it may be because they just arent very good.

The Angels for instance dont need a win tonight. thats because they are good. Yankees do need a win, but making them a road favorite over a better team because yankee homers never believe Moose can lose when they need him is ridiculous

blackburn is terrible on the road and thats where he got lit up, at yankee stadium. he had a pretty solid game going against the yanks when it was in the metrodome... that is, before that line drive knocked him the hell out...

and moose's stats at the metrodome aren't exactly average and theyre far from good.

johnny damon starting things the way he did though, obviously moose has a slight advantage at this point.

Twins have a better record, but I don't think their a better team. Yankees have beaten them pretty good this year. Twins have less competition in their division.

Also factor in Mauer is out tonight.

yeah, anytime a team needs a win, its because they clearly haven't gotten enough, up to that point, aka, they've been losing. they're all professional athletes (supposedly) and no one likes losing...
