You take the good with the bad.

Things about local players that local books hate:

1. Owe $1,000 and have 400

2. Owe $1,000 and have zilch

3. Owe $1,000, have the money and are impossible to find.

4. Call 5 minutes after game time and still expect to get the play in

5. Forget making that losing play, often about once a week.

6. Have a $500 settle figure, owe $450 and don't call for the next month.

7. Expect the same lines that the paper has listed, unless they need some other number.

8. Agree to meet at a certain place, at a certain time and then 'forget about the meet'.

9. Call in, get the numbers and then expect them to be the same an hour later.

10. Make 3 $25 plays all year and then expect an expensive bottle at Christmas.

Any others?

Time needed to pay 50 players: 1 1/2 days

Time needed to collect from 50 players: 3 weeks, if he's lucky.

max - 100% right about books

As far as abad things, I posted a thread Thursday night about rip-offs in parlays. Also, where I'm from, a push on the total is a loss. huge advantage for the book. That plus parlay and teaser odds off make for a killing during NFL.

It's more like paying a guy 6 weeks in a row and when you finally beat him he doesn't have the money. Not only you have to wait to get what he owes you it knocks off the time you have to win back the rest of what he won from you.

My favorite is if the spread is pk or 1 or 1/5 some local guys make it 1/1. Meaning you lay a point no matter who you take. Can't believe some guys play into that.

And the ONLY reason I am no longer messing with it, is the damn guys stiffing me...I was stiffed 20 grand and about 10 grand the previous year..And that will take the wind out of your sails....

One thing I always would do , make the line pick -1 any pickem line, especially basketball! Its alot easier to make up quirky rules with local players...But overall its a damn headache...
