Live Handicapping Saturday 3/23/24

We've got a challenging day today, folks. There is bad weather all throughout the East.

Aqueduct completely cancelled their card. Too wet.

We've got the FG Oaks and the Louisiana Derby today at Fair Grounds. I'm hoping they dodge the raindrops. Horse racing needs their big days to be big, happy occurrences for their fans. This is Fair Grounds biggest day of the year. Races 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 are carded for the turf.

Tampa is taking Race #2 off the turf but leaving races 5 and 7 on a turf listed as "good". At least for now. They have yet to scratch the "Main track only" horses so I'm skeptical.

Gulf is off the turf. Laurel is listed as sloppy. Oaklawn is listed as muddy.

So it's gonna be a challenging day. I'm going for it but beware, It's much harder to handicap "off" tracks. At least for me.

AS I suspected, Tampa came in late and took their remaining two turf races (5, 7) off the turf. Damn. Track is listed as "good".
