Boykins signs with Italian team
Unrestricted free agent Earl Boykins signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal to play with Virtus Bologna of the Italian league.
Boykins, a 32-year-old point guard who played last season for Charlotte, will be the highest-paid player in Italy for the 2008-09 season. He played 10 years in the NBA with eight teams.

This is really becoming a trend now, any good 6th man is going overseas.

And kobe rumored to be looking at italy

I wouldn't be surprised. His father played there and he grew up part of his life there. He's fluent in Italian and would make a shit load of money over there and be "The Man"

will be interesting to see how the nba responds to this if a top player goes overseas. right now i think this is just a natural weed out of the undesirables and cry babies like childress. childress is holding out to play on any team except atlanta so he'll be back in the league next year. boykins, navarro, arroyo, delfino are all nobodies.

the below average players are going out and the top euros are still coming in like rudy fernandez, and soon to be ricky rubio, and gallinari. i think its kind of good actually that alot of these players that cant cut it are going overseas.

Could be the smoking gun Stern needs to make the NBA a worldwide league. Not sure thats a good thing.

Stern has been talking about adding a euro division for awhile. the league already is worldwide in terms of a fan audience.

Explain. Most people here don't want to see a bunch of chain-smoking Euros running around vs the Indiana Pacers.

more exposure, more teams involved. the nba's purpose is to go global like soccer because its a worldwide sport like soccer. i think it would be great if you had something like the UEFA champions league, relegation and the like.

I would really like to see a game with him playing in Italy.

Being that he is so small can he really dominate the Italians?
