I posted this in another topic but it may have been buried among other unrelated posts...

One of you mentioned that it would be nice to see people posting positive things about good books instead of the complaints we're all accustomed to seeing on the forums. I agree. But what would make selecting a new/additional out even more convenient is if there was a section of the site where one could click on all the topics that deal with the pros and cons of particular books. One of your sections, "reviews of books by RX members" would seem to fit the bill, but the only message there is the infamous "URL of every sportsbook that exists" thread.

I don't know if it would be feasible with the software, but it would be nice if I could see a directory of all books that have been discussed, click on a name, and be led to a list of topics where the book has been rated, reviewed, praised, complained about etc. The standard search function fulfills this role somewhat...but rather clumsily -- if I type, say, "Canbet", in the search field, I'm going to get a million messages where "Canbet" is mentioned, but most of them will be a passing reference -- not threads with a thorough analysis of their assets and liabilities. One has to wade through a lot of irrelevant messages to get to what you want, and when multiple messages in the same thread have the keyword in it, they appear on the list twice, making it ever more cumbersome.

If such a fix is doable, it would be greatly appreciated.

dogs24,

I see your suggestion, but I am not sure it is feasible. The best info is the history we have on file of posts about certain books. I understand your issues with the URL thread and the search feature.

I found yesterday that if you try to find out about Jazz sportsbook, you will find more on Jazz the poster than the book. What to do, I don't know.

One can always posts specific questions about any book as well.

A valid issue

Thanks for responding.

The problem with posting questions about a specific book is that one is often met with a "we just had a thread on this 8 weeks ago!" response. One does not want to appear redundant.

Basically, what I'm looking to be able to do is not research any one single, particular book, but browse through topics on any number of books, get a feel for the consensus among players as to how each book operates, what its pluses and minuses are etc., and from there, make a determination as to the most appropriate place to next post-up. I use SBR's A ratings and the Rx's "PG", but that's obviously not terribly detailed...and as we all know, there are books that are more appropriate for certain players than others.

Being redundant to ensure security is fine in my book. Ask away. As I mentioned about flamers in another thread, do not worry over those who complain about what you post. Ask all the questions you need. There are also many here who will try to help you too.
