Line Changes

In general how much has to be wagered on a game for the book to move the line? A friend and I often play the same game and the line seems to adjust in their favor shortly after one of us puts in a play. I would have thought it would need to be alot of money wagered to change the line, and we are not big players. Our average wager is $100. It seems to happen alot more than you would think for such small #'s...any thoughts?

If other books on the screen move then half the offshore world copies.

I think they move more on smart money, then necessarily bulk.

If your consistently on the right side, the wager amount don't matter.

Sherman,doubt seriously anyone is moving of a $100 play.Depends on the book,and depends on the player making the bet.

Sherman, your question has a lot of different circumstances attached. For example, the book itself, line moves vary from book to book. The sport also, NFL lines are difficult to move, where as a college basketball game in say the Patriot league would be much easier. I doubt very much that a $100 bet could move the line much in any major game. Overnight lines can be moved fairly easy by betting the low maximum bet amounts. Player reputation is also another very important factor. Some players can move a line betting small money, where as known square "whales" can bet all they want, and not move the number.

Thanks Green, I just used the conference as a quick example, I probably should have said Big Sky or Ivy league. Thats what happens when I don't research enough. Live and learn right? Hope you have a great weekend.
