I have already downloaded and installed Limewire, but I have that little globe in the left hand corner with a brick wall in front of it. It says that I am behind a firewall, however I checked to see if I am and it is turned off. Can anyone help me with this issue so i am able to connect to Limewire? thank you
I had that shit too. You can keep your firewall on but make sure you go under "exceptions" tab and that the limewire box is checked.
You might have close out limewire and restart it afterwards.
Sometimes when I start it up to this day the brick wall is there but I just start a search and give it a minute and it goes away.

If you are connecting through a network, such as a local wireless router, a lot of times the router will have a firewall that will block limewire traffic, you will need to login to the router (typically an address like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) and modify the firewall settings to allow things to pass through.
lamewire or limewire sucks, too many record companies and studios troll it and try and get peoples IP's so they can sue you for an absurd amount of money.
if you are looking to just get files or albums for that matter, i recommend just finding files on rapidshare or megaupload. there are tons of forums where people post links to music or movies or TV shows. you can just follow the links to the file on rapidshare and download it, that way you don't have that shitty lamewire file-sharing program on your computer where other people can see what you have on your hard drive and try and download what you have and be bringing down your internet speed. plus hackers know how to bypass and get into sensitive files on your HD.
a good site to look for music is at drunkenstepfather dot com and check the forums. just become a member and use the search function, you should be able to find just about anything you are looking for.
and if you are still worried about getting caught, use a proxy, and to take it a step farther , don't use your home internet, use a free internet from places in your town and still go through a proxy.

Ok i will explain this to you simply and you will thank me later (cant believe more people arent aware of how easy this is)
Google "azureus" and download the small file (or any torrent program like Bitlord or whatever)
Now with azureus installed on your computer you can use Mininova.org or Demonoid.com and download ANY Full length movie, TV show, or FULL album as easily as 1,2,3. Just type in a movie or music act on Mininova.org and you will have an option to download torrent whcih after saying yes takes you to the azureus program to download
Its much much better than Limewire because each file on Mininova has a comments section where people say if the file you are about to download is good/bad quality or a virus (if it is a virus its removed ASAP, so you wont get a virus unless its uploaded that day)

For what its worth, Mininova is much better than the Vuze search and i preferred azureus without Vuse (much faster and less flashy shit, who needs that, you can get the old azureus version 2.5 by searching google)
azureus saves it to a folder (you can change where you want to save the files to)
You dont delete it from azureus if you want it, you REMOVE it from azureus and it will no longer be seeded for others from your computer.
Yeah its the same for movies and TV shows and its as easy as shitting.
