Let's talk ALL-INCLUSIVE hotels: CANCUN, COSTA RICA, CARIBBEAN, YOU NAME IT!

Love to hear about any experiences you have had. The travel, the hotels, the cost (!!!!!), etc.

I know a stewardess who is impressed with my beef size so I can get free tickets to fly pretty much anywhere.

A question I have is: Can you just show up at one of these hotels and get the All-Inclusive rate on the hotel?




For example:

Show up at Cancun Hotel XYZ.
They give you daily hotel rate of $250/day for 5 days for 2 people.
So 2 people stay there for $1250 for 5 days.

Does that sound possible/reasonable?

yep do this all the time. Best deals out there are Cancun all inclusives. All liquor and meals included for 2 (even for a a fam of 4). better deal than a cruise, alcohol included and their isnt a pp fee on gratuity added later on.

I'm not really a All-Inclusive guy or Family because to me the Food isn't that great at most places, and the entertainment is Subpar.
Don't get me wrong, some places have Michelin star restaurants, but on Avg. they don't.

did one many years ago in barbados and 2 in the dominican republic. The DR one is paradisus punta cana. the food was Great and the place was amazing. But the entertainment was crap. I should have a thread here somewhere about it.

If you do any of the Riu's, I would say to avoid the one in the bahamas .... I believe one of the best is Aruba

breakfast lunch dinner and drinks... dinners are usually top notch BEEN TO AZUL5, CANCUN PALACE, OASIS SENS, TEMPTATIONSX6, and RIU playa del Carmen...

there are places you should not do all inclusives, like Aruba & St Maarten (I'm sure many others). Traveling off the premises is safe and there are too many damn good restaurants to be locked into your resort.

Then there are places you have to do all inclusives, like some locations in Mexico and all of Jamaica. I understand the DR may be likewise. Travel can be risky and / or the offsite choices are limited

Agree with not needing an All Inclusive for Aruba & St Maarten because of the many Great Restaurants ...

But I also think most people that do the All Inclusive thing is the Drinking part ... that can add up when on Vacation..

although I concur, the few times I have done an all inclusive, getting bar service at the beach or pool was pretty cool

We did one in Roatan in 2014. Found a deal on groupon for it, we stayed 3 nights (out of 4 while on Roatan, spent 3 other nights at a rain forest resort on the main land). It was okay. If I was younger and boozed it up I think it would have been worth it. The room was great, a condo right on the oceanfront (someone stole my Florida Gators hat right off our front porch, dammit!). The cruise ships came in one day and the beach was a shit-show, but otherwise I enjoyed it. Getting up early and running on the beach was nice. The food was good, not great...but not a disappointment either.

We're planning a Belize trip soon and will possibly stay at one of those places....or in DR.
