Have won only 1 of the last 24 Little Leauge games in Williamsport, Great Lakes cousin havent done much better. High school football there is putrid. MAC and Big 10 lay eggs year after year in the bowl season. They are not on par with the rest of country, they are hilljacks and behind the times menatlly and physically.

Was pretty funny that C Mich was 7 favored and I have seen comments that MAC was far superior to sunbelt. yet sunbelt is 3-0 now vs them.

Illinois has plenty of good football squads at the 6-8A level in HS football....many kids ending up at Big10 schools, such as IOWA, and eventually in the NFL, and having much more success than these so called "5 star" kids!

HS Basketball in Illinois is still top notch with the Chicago kids...many now stars in the NBA. Garnett being the 1st to come to mind.

they do have some basketball, inner city Chicago of course. Im thinking from a handicap standpoint. Big 10 is basically a mid major in football at this point. Mac had no buisness being a 7 favorite tonight. I also think Ball State gross overrated team.

Your Illinois state champ in football is not going to be comeptetive vs top teams from Socal, maybe a couple of Big 10 scholarships. Big 10 is a great fade.

You can fade all you want....won't win in the long run.

Your SoCal teams can;t compete with the boys in FL.

I could care less about the MAC. They've still produced some quality NFL players for a small conference.

Ohio, with about 11.4 million people, has eight schools that play at the FBS level: Miami University, Toledo, Bowling Green, Ohio U., Kent State, Akron, Ohio State and Cincinnati.

Michigan has about 10 million people and has five schools at the FBS level; Michigan, Michigan State, Eastern, Western and Central.

Indiana has 6.3 million people and has four FBS schools, Ball State, Indiana, Purdue, and Notre Dame.

So, with fewer than 28 million people, these three states support 17 FBS schools.

California, with 36.4 million people, has only seven FBS schools, USC, UCLA, Fresno, San Jose, San Diego State, Cal-Berkeley, and Stanford.

West vs. Midwest is not a fair comparison.

Funny no mention of the WAC conference which is 0-3 in Bowl Games..Rail has pointed out several times that California supplys all these teams with California players...Boise St, Fresno, and Hawaii...Cmon Rail, chime in!

Best HS football in Michigan is in the Grand Rapids area. Detroit area got shutout in titles this year.

Rail, I was thinking about this last night too. Two of the best plays are Rice and Tulsa vs WM and Ball St. CM had lots of chances Friday, but the team speed of FAU was impressive.

One of the best things about the midwest is that very few people are interested in tennis, either as a participant or a fan.

Also, the BIG TEN gets ragged on by non-BIG TEN fans more than any other conference for the simple reason it has been the granddaddy of all conferences in this country and taking everything into account over the past 100 years, no conference can hold a candlestick to it.

Would also like to add that while California real estate is dropping faster than a breakaway Shonn Greene TD run, midwest farmland, especially in Iowa, has been going through the roof in value over in the same timeframe of the drought in California.

Still don't think they could compete with SoCal or Florida teams. Don't have the speed.

ya maybe, but if memory serves me right the last time UF played a midwest team they lost with their superiour team speed.

Also if your going to include all the teams in these two states than don't forget to mention that Stanford, UCLA, FSU, Miami, Fresno St., san jose st., san diego st, FL int, Fl Atl, UCF, USF are also in the dicussion and only 4 of those 11 even have a winning record.

As well as UCLA, FSU, and Miami haven't been close to what they should be for a while now.

Suddenly teams like Ball State and Cincy (who beat south florida and are playing in a BCS game) don't seem so bad.

Wisconson getting walloped by a marginal Florida state team. Seminole players literally running right by them.
