Ok, time to test you guys and see who here is sharp when it comes to baseball rules. I will start off with this one..

Bases loaded, 2 outs.. The batter hits a triple to clear the bases, 3 runs come into score. Then the team on field makes an appeal saying batter missed touching 2nd base. Ump calls him out saying he missed 2nd base. Do any runs count? And if yes, how many??

I will only give answer after first 5 have responded.

1 runs counts
Batter only reached one base safely so runners only advance one base.

The batter is credited with a single (The last legal base he touched) and ONE run scores (the runner from third)

I'm guessing 3 runs count because they all crossed before the batter was officially out.

Well boys, the answer is either 0,1,2 or 3 runs count. As we see here so far, each one has been guessed at, so that means that one of you got it right, and all the rest of you got it wrong. It's not hard at all if you use logic. Think about it..

I will not say yet the answer till a bunch more take a crack at it. I want to see how many will get it out of 20 posters.

Come on boys, come in and take your guess.

Say the batter pulls a hamstring rounding first and lays on the ground between first and second base. If all the other runners cross home and then the batter is tagged out then all 3 runners score. That's why I'm sticking with 3.

Raiders has a valid point. I'm changing my pick to 3.

Anyone??? I will give the answer in 5 minutes and I will then proceed with the next question after that..

Lander, is that your final answer?? You sure now??? I don't want you to feel stupid now if you had the right answer then changed it.

Anyways, will give final answer in 5 minutes because there seems to be nobody on here tonight in this forum..

Believe it or not, only 1 guy got it right here and that is Raiders. Way to go kid. At one time, everyone was guessing wrong, and I was in shock because they all sounded very confident. In fact, the only one that didn't sound so confident was Raiders himself, who replied by saying.. " I am guessing" which only tells me he even wasn't so sure at first. Good job Raiders.. alright, and good job to you too Lander.. you happy??

Next question. There is one more after this one.

Man on first, 1 out. High pop up to 2nd base..The 2nd baseman sees the batter is not running, sees the guy on 1st not budging, so he lets ball bounce, takes it on a hop, throws to 1st base, 1st baseman steps on the bag, then touches runner who is standing on bag. What is your call? Is this legal? Who is out, who is not, is it a Double play? What's your call?

As long as the high popup is, I forget the exact phrase, but something like easily catchable by an infielder, then the infield fly rule is invoked and it doesn't matter of the fielder catches it, the the batter is outthe runner standing at first is safe.

There has to be at least two men (or more) on base (and less than two outs) for the infield fly rule to be in affect, not applicable here. Raiders is right. Batter is out after being thrown out at first and previous runner standing on first stays where he is.

The smart thing to do would have been get the force out at 2nd base first and then throw over to first to get the batter.

The infield fly rules only applies if runners are on 1st and 2nd or if bases are loaded. Sick's question is similar to when a runner is on 1st and a ground ball is hit to the firstbaseman that tags first and then throws to second. The force play no longer applies. You must now tag the runner. That's why in Sick's question I'm going with the batter being out and the runner being safe.

Raiders,

I am very impressed with you again. What are you, an ex umpire? Don't worry kid, I will stump you on one of my next few questions, but so far, so good.. You are right, baserunner is safe, batter is out.

Ok Raiders, what if 1st baseman tags runner standing on 1st base, then steps on bag that runner is standing on. What is your call now? This one isn't too hard..
