Anyone going to see it this weekend?

This is a remake of a masterpiece of film-making called Let the Right One In, a Swedish movie made in 2008. It's tracking very high at Rotten Tomatoes.

The acting from these kids is phenomenal. The boy was in a highly underrated movie called The Road, and the girl was the foul-mouthed super hero in Kick-Ass.

I'll probably go see it somewhere down the line.

I didn't like the original. Way too slow and boring.

Glad Hollywood is doing it and making it better.

Two Thumbs up. I liked both versions thou. The main Girl is Hit girl from Kickass. She's got a bright future in front of her.

I don't know where to start with that...

There won't be any car chases or explosions in the American version either.

That's fine. I don't want explosions. I just want a movie with a decent pace. I remember a scene in the original where it was a shot of the outside of the building for 20 seconds with nothing happening. This is common in these types of foreign films. The movie was not bad though. Maybe the American version is worse. Who knows. Hate Hollywood all you want but they have the winning formula.

It depends on your definition of "winning forumla," I suppose. If you mean getting crowds to pony up loads of money for crap cookie-cutter movies, then, yes, Hollywood has the formula. They can crank out a new "Saw" movie every year and churn out a fifth-rate spoof of a popular film (I blame you for that, Wayans brothers) that makes plenty of bucks. But if you're talking about beautifully telling a story or showing off high-quality acting, Hollywood leaves a lot to be desired.

Twenty seconds of "nothing" in "Let the Right One In" was more compelling than 90 minutes of action in "The Expendables."

I'm not gonna argue about Let me In but I'll be back when I see it. Maybe they ruined it.

Hollywood's formula isn't just about adding explosions. It's also about making every scene as significant as possible. The original was way too slow and mundane for me. I don't like Saw or movies like The Expendables either. That's an example of the Hollywood formula gone wild.

Very disappointing opening. I was hoping it would do $15-20 million this weekend.

I totally agree.

Ingmar Bergman, as an example, was a total hack also.

Ron Howard cold have made his movies into Blockbusters.

The Swedish version, Let The Right One In, is one of the top 10 movies I've ever seen. And I usually hate foreign films where you have to read the words at the bottom. There was something magical about that movie.
