Only if you believed the ridiculous estimate of 10,000 that was thrown out in the beginning. They did the same thing on 9/11; throw out a ridiculously high estimate in the beginning for the public to chew on so it won't seem so bad when the true count is taken.

I never saw the post. I'd much rather have the troops home and let the Bush years fade away with emphasis on reforming SS, homeland security and dealing with the Katrina aftermath. I have a friend over there serving, and the son of my neighbor is in Iraq --- both would rather be home (if I am to believe my neighbor since I don't know his kid)

I don't blame Bush any more than I blame previous presidents for the levee situation. They all were very shortsighted in cutting the funding. My only problem with Bush is what happened in the aftermath. A true leader would have jumped in and responded immediately and taken care of American citizens who needed help. Along with that, the local and State authorities screwed their own in not taking care of their people before the storm hit.

JP, what's your source on that. My understanding is that money goes straight to the Army Corps of Engineers. Who repeatedly let it be known before the fact, the funding wasn't sufficient to do the job.
