Rumor circulating around the Dallas area is that Baylor is looking at former LSU coach Les Miles. Apparently he's putting together a staff already. Baylor sometime floats these rumors themselves though. i heard his name mentioned for Purdue but I don't see that fit, other than it gets him back into the B10.

Look, we can all laugh at some of Miles strange/stupid decisions over the years, and the dumb luck that he enjoyed at times, but he does have some really positive qualities as a coach. He is a leader, and he instills toughness in his teams.

He never won less than 9 games in any of his seasons at LSU. How did Gerry DiNardo do?

Can you not post rumors as if it has happened already?

Thanks.

Agreed. If I were a Baylor fan, I'd much rather roll the dice a little and go with the very youthful PJ Fleck.

Guy certainly has his quirks and yes he's coming from the MAC, but has a massive upside and will compete hard for each recruit. Think he would be the perfect guy to re-energize that program and move them on from Briles and into their next chapter.

Les Miles had his hemorrhoids removed (surgery) after he got fired at LSU; He now has a clean bill of health.....
They, hemorrhoids, can be painful little bastards....constant itching and burning. Even Preparation-H doesn't
work with severe cases which Miles had.

Craziest thread to date. Baylor on the NCAA "watch and we're looking up you skirt" list would hire Miles??? I'll tell ya what, you guys give me some odds and I probably take the action. He's NOT coming back to the Big 12, Pokie State will dictate that. I suggest fishing in another pond.

He's too old

Isn't he the same age as Mike Riley (when he left OSU to go to Nebraska)? I agree he's old...but he thinks he has 10 years left in him. Honestly, he's one of the top 10-15 coaches in CFB. I'd give him a shot if I was a mid-major. And Baylor is NOT a "major".

Well, Riley is old too. I think the jury is still out on him. I'm still not sure he can raise Nebraska up to standards their fans really want. But I hope he does. Miles doesn't seem like a good fit at all for Baylor. His offenses are too vanilla, the Baylor fans would go nuts watching their games after what Briles brought in. And what's worse is he wouldn't be able to recruit even close to the quality defensive players that he did at LSU. So his defenses would probably be average at best too. Somebody mentioned Chad Morris. I think he is much closer to what Baylor wants in a coach. Somebody with a little more imagination and knows the state of Texas for recruiting.

GS, you're probably right about the style of play....but teams do that all the time (when they switch coaches). Miles has been rumored to Purdue also. PJ Fleck has been mentioned for Purdue, but IMO he should hold out for a better job....same for Morris, although Baylor will pay him well.

Always fun watching the coaching carousel in the off-season. The Texas situation is going to shake some things up, same w/ LSU if Fisher leaves. I suspect Jeremy Pruitt (at Alabama) gets a job this off-season. Will be curious to see what FSU does if they lose Fisher (personally, I think Fisher would be crazy to take LSU). Herman is very likely to Texas....and I suspect Charlie gets a job somewhere also, he's still a solid coach, just didn't work out well at Texas.
