The correlation between Democrats and higher taxes is indisputable.

1) CT
2) MA
3) NJ
4) NY
5) WY (R)
6) MD
7) NV (R)
8) WA
9) CO (R)
10) NH (I)
11) CA
12) VA (R)
13) IL

The big three states that make it possible for Democrats to win National elections are all within the top 13 in state tax burden.

The correlation is undeniable. You do the math.

Wondering how the most liberal state of all (Rhode Island) isn't on that list.

Something doesn't smell right because RI taxes are pretty high ... hell the state sales tax is 8%.

The the table is about "tax burden per capital", and is about the highest tax burden, not income.

RI came in at number 19. There is a lot more to state and local taxes than sales tax. Income taxes, property taxes, highway taxes & excise taxes are all part of the equation.

The is an undeniable correlation between liberalism and liberal states and higher taxes, and that's a cold hard fact.

Aren't the services of those states at a high level too?

Services? you mean generous welfare? In CT, we have a very generous welfare state, which tends to attract welfare recipients to our state and actually increases the State's poverty levels. It's amazing stuff.

The better the welfare program, the more the poverty level increases. :ohno:

You talked about tax revenue including everything, from property on down to licensing fees.

Services yeah come with the money.....police, fire, schools, services besides "welfare" AFDC isn't as big as you guys make it out to be.

Betcha have nice libraries, clean streets, and exceptionally well lit holiday displays!

well, our highways are paved and we don't have any tolls, up here in looney land, that's a rarity.

we also "invested" 2 billion dollars in UConn, where residents "only" have to pay 18k per year:lol:

Sorry Cuzz, no government on earth spends money efficiently. We just have more working welfare to go along with more welfare.

The tax burdens are ranked in the second column. Your list shows the far right column which ranks income, not tax burden. Look at Wyoming and you'll see what I mean.

Note I'm not disagreeing that leftie states have higher taxes. To that I might say something like "duh". I'm pointing out an error in the OP. Using the second column you should be able to make an even stronger point.
