What was the context in which Lebron said this ?

Did he tweet it ? Did he call a press conference to announce it ? OR did some goofy reporter ask him a hypothetical question ?

Roger Mason Jr is the #2 guy with the union and he spoke to LeBron and said he said it.

I'm sure it was just a offhand comment to illustrate we won't allow him back in the league. Not like he is calling for a strike in a press conference or anything....

Well that settles it for me, I hope he fights it for the next 10 years.

Agreed. Lets get some players in there who dont think they are doing us some huge favor to play. Fuck Lebron and all the rest of them.

Players should have been up in arms years ago. Only care now when it's comments that are in a roundabout way about team/league/arena.

one could say that if players cared that much about racism from sterling it would have come long ago. it's like they only care because its hit the arena..

Evaluate what? It is pretty cut and dry. You can't just go popping off making racist comments and then be exposed for it if you own a billion dollar business.

Thus sponsors/players/other owners want you to stop F'ing with their $ and would like you out.

Also if you have a history of discrimination it kinda hurts in this situation...

I don't agree.
Lets say bill gates would have said the same thing.

I also find this strange. I remember reading about Sterling being a slumlord and racist 4 or 5 years ago. Believe it was on Deadspin. I have to believe that Doc, etc. knew about the discrimination lawsuit and settlement. Why was Doc fine taking his money 12 months ago? Sterling is scum and he deserves to go, just don't understand where all the outrage was over the discrimination suit. His alleged comments in that suit were, in my opinion, far more offensive than the recent comments.

That'll last until they get their first $500 check for sweeping floors.

And the funny thing is there will be someone at that building of the floor they are sweeping who is just as racist as sterling.

Every hotel they sleep in, every restaurant they eat at, every piece of clothing they buy, and every vehicle they drive someone in all of those businesses are just as racist as sterling.

The players are just making the point they want him out as owner and won't tolerate anything less. There isn't gonna be any kind of strike/boycott, etc. Everyone is in agreement he has to go (everyone with a relevant opinion in league circles)

Roger Mason Jr, a union rep, is the one who said LeBron will sitout. That was pretty dumb of him to say LeBron of all people and single 1 guy out. All the players want Sterling out.

The issue is dying down anyway, Sterling's interview on Anderson Cooper didn't get much press at all (especially for how bizarre/awkward it was)

That interview he did with Cooper was hysterical to me. I laughed throughout the entire thing. When he was saying Magic got "the aids'....I was in shock but kept laughing.

It was comical. He just doesn't get it. Couldn't bring himself to sincerely apologize to anyone but the owners.

Good for the Lebron. Hopefully all the players would boycott. Got to have principle, especially when you have an owner that thinks of you as his property in some weird 1800s slave way. Lebron is far more important to the NBA than Sterling.

Huh? Are people boycotting Clippers games, not watching on TV or buying merchandise that I'm aware of?

If Gates pulled a Sterling and was still actively involved with Microsoft then the board would likely vote him out of power because of the severe backlash that came with his comments, hurting the brand, etc....

I'm not sure how your example provides any equivalency whatsoever.

When you have no power/influence nobody cares if you are racist.

Infact when you have no power/influence, nobody really cares about anything you say or do. With power comes responsibility, jeez man you ever watch Spiderman movie?

Are you arguing society should just tolerate racism because it exists or something?
