I blame ESPN, they wrecked a generation of minds and taught them to think about sports like it is a soap opera.

Current political climate not much different either.

If we are talking sports here then.....

Seems like Lebron lost the team when all the young guys were rumored to be traded to New Orleans for Anthony Davis. They seemed to all "check out".

This is the first time in ages that Lebron didnt have "veteran talent" around him and Lebron is finding himself with a "different generation" that is more "entitled" than himself.

This was supposed to be the worst Lakers team in the Lebron tenure but nobody thought it would be this bad.

I dont feel bad for Lebron at all and he needs to be "bigger" than the coach at all times. (Lebron knows better than to be "bigger" than Magic)

Who checked out? Ingram is playing better than he has at any time in his career and Lonzo has been hurt for 1.5 months now. He hasn't even been on the court since the trade deadline stuff.

Maybe their team just isn't that good and LeBron James isn't the best player in the NBA anymore?

Can it ever be about sports and not soap opera for you guys? like 1 time?

I get that the media has to cover LeBron/Lakers in a sensational way but their team isn't that good. And Lonzo has been an underrated loss because he was their best defensive player.

So in an interview earlier in the year LeBron is asked about the talent around him and confidently responds "Oh yeah, I know what I got myself into".

Seems he's changed his mind.

The losing/not being a good team is causing the drama. The drama isn't causing the losing/not being a good team.

People have the cause/effect backwards.

Whether it is team fit or youth or it just isn't going to happen for them, Lonzo/Ingram just haven't made the leap this year. LeBron missed 1/3rd the season so far and when he's been on the court he has been a top 10 player but not close to the best player. You add that up with a tougher conference and their struggles make sense.

You don't need to pretend this is Shaq and Kobe drama to figure out why the Lakers aren't very good.

But let's call it what it is about Lonzo. He just isn't that good either.

He's only 21, point guard toughest position to learn. He could still be good.

Even if he was healthy, I'm not sure it would matter too much but they're basically DOA w/o his defense compared to the sieves they're playing.

I hear ya, no pun intended. :)

Anyway, this is a quick little writeup on Lonzo Ball's defensive impact for the Lakers. It isn't even so much that he has been so good but the guys he has replaced have just been so awful. So they've gone from a slightly above average defensive team to 1 of the worst in the league.

It's a good thing for him that he was in the East all these years with no competition. It would seem this season is a reflection of what happens to him in the finals. When the going gets tough, the Lebron starts to panic, get frustrated, quit, blame teammates, blame the coach, blame the organization, etc ... then his wittle itty bitty wittle ego cannot handle that he isn't as good as he thinks he is and he tries to build a super team around him. In the East, we didn't have to see it until he made the finals, where it showed up over and over again .... now that he is in the tougher conference, we are seeing it all play out.

I actually think you both are right .. Pats is right that this is mainly about basketball. But Mod is also right that Lebron and his teammates just are not putting out a professional effort.

There are three things that happen when you are losing...
1. You don't care.
2. You care. Get angry. Try harder.
3. You care. Get angry. Try not as hard.

I think #3 is Lebron. That just seems to be who he is. His amazing talent, coupled with playing in the East, coupled with moving away from teams he couldn't win with, has hidden this character flaw but it is clearly there. Clearly.

Once they get KD or a cold envelope at the draft (this is a joke, I have no idea even how the draft is functioning or where Lakers will have a pick), then Lebron will be happy again. Like his teams in Miami, he won't be the best player ... just like at Cleveland, he will have someone else there to make the clutch shot he cannot ... and he will compete for a title again. Until then he is going to cry like the baby he is.

Threads like this are why this place has trended down hill for some time now. You have an OP who can’t handle any discussion of the topic he even post about without lashing out at the responder and just going off. Then having to post multiple times in response to one post just to exaggerate how bored loneliness.

No constructive sports or gambking discussuon here, just a bunch of immature bored people that can’t have a mature conversation.
