What a wonderful post WoodyO. I hope the goofs read it.

I liked it too, but it has a very easy counter argument. Nobody is going to forbid poker. They forbid playing poker FOR MONEY. You can't explain to somebody who hasn't played that without the real money factor, the game doesn't exist. They'll simply say "Play for points, make leagues etc" that way shifting the argument from the fact that they SHOULD NOT be allowed to tell you how to spend your money to a position in which all it takes is to say "See? We care about you. Nobody's forbidding anything. It's just a matter of protecting the US interest.". There is no point arguing with this bill as from the moment you start arguing, you're actually making it seems as they should have the right to pass it, while they shouldn't be allowed to even consider it. Only business interests could save it, and so far it seems they're going with it.

Word from the lobbyists are that Leach's Bill could die quietly. They are all on Goodlatte's side and supposedly Sensenbrenner told Goodlatte as much. The problem is Kyl over on the Senate side is really pushing people around to support his and Leach's approach to this. All three of them talk like they are buddies, but its a very short session and the immigration bills and a very uncertain battle in November makes quick action not likely. I don't want to go out on too big a limb here, but reading between the lines of what I am hearing makes it sound like there is good reason Kyl is trying to sneak his bill onto something else...he just may not get a chance to send it through in a normal fashion due to lack of time and interest.

WB, what amazes me about this practice of sneaking bills that would not pass on their own merits onto others, is the legality of it! Kyl is like a thief in the night. He has his Bible in one hand and a flashlight in the other. LT
