Lawyers--What % are Pure Crooks?

Have you evr had a case where the lawyer charged you a fee that was a bit high? Did you suspect that part of the fee went to another lawyer (perhaps a prosecuter) as a cash payment to "go" for the deal?

I'm taking what's called under the table payments in the form of cash ?
I have a theory and am wondering what the readers here think or mabe know to be a fact? Personally experinnces etc? Former Prosecuting attorneys are my primary interest.

Cash as a tool for "justice".

Four experiences with separate lawyers - all milked and milked and milked, then did not deliver. I hate lawyers !! My guess is 101% are crooks.

If the lawyer dis not deliver and keep asking more cash---then it's fairly safe to assume it was a closed end deal.
What I'm thinking of is Prosecuting attorneys (the elected type) that move to so called greener pastures possibly toning down their law practice and becoming more financially involved in other vertures? I think they use cash to finance these ventures--and when I use the word "cash"--that is exactly the word I mean. No checks --but money (illegaly gained). No risk now for it--only high rewards. Maybe the cash is used to set up a relative in some legitimite business (washed) .
Lawyers police themselves----NO WAY to GET caught UNLESS they make a big ENEMY.

Very strange b/c I've lived in Canada and the US and they are seen in a different light. Have chatted with many and most agree the Canadian ones are more generally more ethical and follow a more direct line of conduct. One of my best friends is a Canadian lawyer living in Vegas and he told me he has dealt with at least 6 firms and 15 different lawyers iin Nevada, Calif and Minn. and found all but two lawyers competent to perform their duties properly and was flabergasted when some did not even know some basic stuff. He says and many tend to agree in the US there is much more undermining activities ...just my experience and my buddy's

Back in the day when all sports betting (save Vegas) was credit with locals, lawers as a general rule were notorious bad pay second only to cops as stiffs when it came to occupations.

Key Word--my mistake __PROSECUTING ATTORNEYS as cooks.
Yeah it takes 2 to be crooked--but the ones to watch are the prosecutors.

Why does the public aat large seem to hold them in such high esteem?

Now my next question? For another day---What does a private eye cost and how reliable are they.

one thing about lawyers. their license to practice is EVERYTHING to them. that means that a prosecutor would NOT risk his/her license for a "cash" payment. also, these prosecutors are working for the state. they are not going to risk their livelihood to cheat the state for a few bucks.

as for private lawyers, yes, many just want to milk ya for not all you got, but for what you can afford to give them.....the best clients are the ones who can pay you to do all of the legal maneuvers that you want to do but that most people cannot afford. that is why the rich people are successful in court. they can pay their counsel to do what they have to do to win...

Funny you should ask - a lawyer still owes me $500 from many moons ago. I was a bartender at a joint he drank in and took some action from him to lay off with a real book I did business with and got stiffed by the mouthpiece but had to pay the bookie.. I don't even know if he (the lawyer) is still alive. Water over the dam.

Ok--Let me clear this up a bit. For me it's personal. I truly belive a forfer prosecutor took cash to"settle" for lessor offenses. Easy and Clean!!!! Very easy--Very Clean. It's a personal thing. Doesn't affect me exactly --but a good friend of mind that I believe if MY LIFE, were on the line.

The only thing that I can do now to help( repay an old friend) is to prove that this lowlife is using cash to pay day to day expeses ( Yep--Buried his $$$ that was taken as prosecutor--now uses it legitimaely.0 I want to have the person followed. Morning to Night. What would this cost for 7 days to a week--by a legal Private eye??

I don't imagine their are too many prosecuters out there taking cash to go or not go after a case more diligently -- there's simply too much of a potential for a money trail that could connect them to it, have them lose their license (and go to jail), as well as have countless cases that they resided over overturned because you wouldn't know which ones were handled legit and which one's weren't.

I do however believe there is quite a bit of back-scratching and negotiating that goes on with the cases as a whole... I would not find it all that surprising to see a lawyer/district attorney going over 5-10 cases and the lawyer possibly saying "I won't push too hard on these 4-5 DWI cases if you let manslaughter case get plead down to a misdemeanor". Lessens the workload for all, clears up the congestion in the court system, and I'm sure in their eyes comes off as "fair".

If your lawyer isn't a close personal friend, I certainly wouldn't assume that he is giving it his all when trying your case -- he may even be sending you up the river in order to get one of his other cases' (personal friend?) dropped.
