Baylor is not going to jump two spots with this pedestrian performance today over two teams that absolutely dominated.

May have to throw something on tcu if the number climbs.

I personally think its 50/50 with Baylor-TCU... so to me the value is Baylor at 7/1... just grabbed some of that gravy

haven't followed this that closely...

so having done a little bit of thinking i assume it's alabama/oregon/fsu and then one of tcu/ohs or maybe baylor. and obv odds that are in this thread show ohs as healthy fave for 4th spot.

how do they pick the semi-finals? 1 vs 4 etc. and decided at discretion of committee?

Baylor might have started in 6th place but to me they pass TCU because they matched TCU;s resume and beat them head to head.. Ohio St is another argument.. Ohio St should get it over Baylor

as i said i barely follow this and don't look at power ratings much either.

but before today, sagarin has

1 alabama
2 mississippi
3 TCU
4 Oregon

8 Baylor
13 Ohio State
17 FSU

so why OHS over baylor/TCU? can't remember who OHS lost to either. EDIT : lost 21-35 at home to VTech.

Think all decided by committee. The #1 team chooses its venue (sugar or rose bowl).

Baylor has the worst sos ranking of the three.

TCU is my 3rd highest Power Rated team. Ohio St is my 4th highest Power Rated Team. Vegas has Florida State as their 13th highest Power Rated team, mine with Florida State is 12th. Unfortunately, TCU and Ohio State can't enter together, one must be left out. With Big 10 having Jim Delaney as their Commissioner this probably goes to Ohio St.

from an article I just read............
A college administrator told me in late November that he’d been told the former coaches on the committee were having the most influence in the meeting room. As it happens, two of the three former coaches on the committee have ties to Big Ten schools – Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez and former Nebraska coach and AD Tom OsborneAs it also happens, those men were highly successful coaches while espousing an old-school, smash-mouth football philosophy.Who plays smashmouth? Michigan State and Wisconsin, both highly regarded by the committee

I might jump on this as well.

How can the committee drop TCU out of the top four altogether after a 55-3 win?

Ohio State lost at home to an unranked Va Tech team, and the entire Big 10 is flat out pathetic.

I realize it's difficult for a selection committee to make everyone happy, but this American Idol style crap is becoming a joke.

Baylor has the worst sos ranking of the three.

May be but TCU and Baylor played 10 common opponents and each played an fcs team. The only difference in sos is the difference between Minnesota and Buffalo. .... that shouldn't be enough of a difference to trump head to head.

The committee has said they redo the rankings every week. They also have said the h-t-h Baylor / TCU winner (Baylor) hasn't been taken into consideration. Also the only other thing lacking on Baylor's resume other than TCU was a win vs K-State which is now there and was a top 10 ranking. With all that being said I believe TCU will drop to #6. Think FSU will move up to #3. That leaves tOSU and Baylor for the last spot. I go back to my first statement of the post....the committee has said they redo the rankings every week. Not sure how the committee jumps #6 Baylor over #5 tOSU after a 59-0 win over top 15 ranked team in a conference championship game. Not saying it's right or wrong jmo.....

They will choose Osu. It's easier for them that way instead of the Baylor Tcu debate.

I agree with this. ...I'm wondering though if the may flip/flop bama and oregon so they get oregon vs osu/tcu and bama vs fsu.

If they keep bama #1 it will likely end up bama vs osu/tcu and oregon vs fsu. ... i think they'd rather have it the other way ???
