The "I heard from a friend who was in a stall in a bathroom at a ballgame... who heard from his cousin" is just as reliable as a Central American newspaper.

Hope the guy is well and alive, though.

I hear what you’re saying but not quite like that. This came from a credible source. He gave his name and he was in Sean’s wedding, so obviously a good friend. He may be BS’ing, but if he is certainly don’t understand the motive. The things I’ve posted here aren’t innuendo or gossip, they’ve primarily came from a reporter on the ground in CR who is credible. I wouldn’t have made this last post if it wasn’t credible also. I hope it’s the truth. The story just gets stranger every week.

Why would you be talking to a reporter about this situation? Why do you care that much?

Sean is from my neck of the woods, spent his last US years in my hometown. We have numerous mutual friends. This guy that told my friends the above last night in Austin, I know his family. Sean is famous around here in north central WV betting circles. I also lived in South America for many years and made a couple bucks and know what it’s like being a gringo in Latin America and being discriminated against as well as a target. Also he has no more immediate family, his parents are gone and an only child. If something bad has happened to him I want to make sure that justice will be done. If you read the other thread I have urged all American citizens to contact the embassy in CR. This case has been strangely quiet and I know from experience how “justice” can be bought and paid for there. Just trying to do what I would hope someone would do for me given the same circumstances.

And to me, this is completely odd.

You want me, who doesn't know Sean from anyone else out there, to call the embassy in CR and say what exactly? It's none of my business.

His family should be contacting the embassy not some strange dude from wherever in the U.S. CR doesn't owe you anything.

Thats fine cuz, stay out of it then. Strange dude? LOL. What about him having no immediate family do you not understand? With the exception of his CR wife that some reports say may be involved.

And what should american citizens say to the embassy? In your case nothing. Obviously you don’t get it.

Also never said that CR owed me anything, where’d that come from? But they do owe the American govt an official explanation of what happened to one of its citizens, sooner or later.

Yeah, agree. And his immediate family.

But some random from the U.S. calling the embassy? No. They don't owe anyone else an explanation.

Let's say you worked in the Polish embassy in the U.S. and a Polish citizen died in Arizona. Some random guy/gal (not family or anything) calls you from Poland asking what's going on with the case. You'd tell them it's none of their business right?

While fascinating, this case is none of your business.

Being an ex-pat in Latin America for a quarter of my life and the warden for the US consulate in my region while there I can tell you that you’re incorrect in some of your assumptions. US citizens, especially family AND friends, of those US citizens missing, murdered, incarcerated, etc, in another country are urged to contact the local consulates and embassy of the country in question. Outside pressure from press as well as family friends, AND American citizens are encouraged. I can relate a true story of a kidnapped US child to Latin America that would’ve never been returned to his father if it weren’t from the political pressure that not only came from his family, but from the press and literally millions of average everyday Americans like you(?) and me contacting the consulates and embassy in said country as well as their federal representatives. But if you’re not American I get it. And if you are but just don’t believe in “getting involved”, I get that too.

I hope so. And it’s all good. But anyone who tries to dissuade American citizens from “getting involved” and contacting the US embassy in CR isn’t doing Sean or the family he has left a favor.

I’m sorry but unless you are a family member of his, if I worked in the embassy, we wouldn’t be talking. It’s none of your business. Just my opinion.

A good friend of mine from Morgantown is in Austin going to the WVU/Texas game tomorrow. Said he ran into a guy from Clarksburg(where Sean grew up) that was in Seans wedding. Said he’s alive. That he spoke to him on the phone. Said this “is all BS”.

Sorry but I Don't believe that he Spoke to him.

Everyone Loves a good conspiracy theory, and IF it was one. and there was an outside chance that he's hiding instead of dead, NOBODY has " Talked " to him

If you’re an American citizen a representative of the consulate or embassy MUST talk to you. They don’t need to give you information about a situation like this, that’s not what it’s about. As I said, you don’t get it. It’s ok.

And its its very possible that the guy in Sean’s wedding who spoke to my buddy last night could be talking BS. I just don’t understand why he would.
