bigtex hooked me up with a coupon for the las vegas club for 15 a night on thursday and 25 weekends. So i was thinking of just staying there cause of the price since it's so close to golden nugget. I have now heard bad things about lady luck and el cortez

If you go to the El Cortez, translates to s***ole place in horrible neighborhood, you will be leaving the place asking them to pay you 25 a night to stay there. Oh my god, that is the sad joke of Vegas, yet some people like going there for the "good service". That is like saying I go to the McDonalds in the Bronx because they take good care of you there. LVC is by far the best place of the 3 you listed. Its not really that bad, just it isn't exactly a lively place and the clientele isn't what you would expect for Vegas, but the rooms are passable. I have friends that stay there during WSOP since its hard to get a room at Binions and so I have seen one recently and its not the worst place in town. On the plus side its right in the middle of the action and the sports book ain't bad as far as Vegas books go. And those silly BJ rules are sometimes on, sometimes off not sure if they are going now or not. Put it this way, you won't spend much time there...

I agree with WB.If you stay at the El Cortez you will be itching for three weeks after you leave.

In that part of town just walk fast, keep your head down, (NO eye contact), look a little pissed, if a girl asks you if you want a good time (time to walk faster)......

Get my drift.............

Remember the places you don't want to be...

1. Parking lots

2. Bathrooms

They don't call it the Naked City for nothing, aye.....

Enjoy Vegas, I may see you there....(IN VEGAS, NOT AT THE EL CORTEZ)......lol

The LVC Hotel is your best bet for the price and it is the closest to the Golden Nugget. ! block maybe. LadyLuck 2 Blocks, El Cortez about 3 to 4 Blocks. Besides it's right next door to the Glitter Gulch strip bar, where there's never a cover with 2 drink minimum. Best Poker Room in that area is across the street at the Horseshoe.

Book your room at the Las Vegas Club through the "Viva Las Vegas" newsletter and you will get the best rate and a nice room in the North Tower(newest built) plus a free breakfast for every morning you stay there.I had a great room(spacious and clean)with a floor to ceiling window on the 12th floor with a great view for $25.00/night Sunday thru Thursday while attending The WSOP this year in May!Very pleased.I wouldn't even recommend walking near the El Cortez.

I wouldn't stay there if they paid me. If you can't afford to stay at the heart of the strip, then you may want to try Circus Circus, Reviera or even the Westward Ho....

Have been visiting Las Vegas Club for 30+ years and have always enjoyed it. Never stayed there but have heard rooms are decent and inexpensive.

Stay on Freemont Street downtown and you won't have a problem. Like any city, it helps to stay alert, especially at night.

Have a blast! Wish I could get away to join you all!!

Las Vegas Club is fine. Best location and hotel of the 3. Ask for a north tower room, they are a lot newer than south tower.

I mean i am not that cheap... just it seems kinda expensive and I will have to travel far to get to the main strip.

I am just curious for the same price could I get somewhere right on the strip near alot of the other pokerrooms.

69 bucks for a weekend does seem pretty good though.

DANTE, do you have the casino host email, I didn´t received further confirmation from Angelle and made my own reservation online at GNugget (as I didn´t want to add to her work load)
thanks

T - Orleans is out of the way from downtown (would only stay if you have access to a car), but they often have fairly low rates. And they have a decent pokerroom.
