Las Vegas mini bars!!

Las vegas minibars at most top hotels are now on sensors, if anything gets moved you get charged.

On my most recent trip I was charged from Palms, Hard Rock and Venetian for items that were never consumed.

At the Venetian my wife accidentally moved items, at the Palms and Hard Rock however I never touched anything.

Then they go ahead and charge your credit card automatically, and it is a huge struggle to get your money back.

They must make hundreds of thousands a year in false mini bar charges where clients dont closely look at their bills, and just pay off whatever their credit card charges.

at the Paris last month, we put some leftovers in the fridge that must have moved a bunch of chit.

as I'm going through the bill on TV, see a lot of mini bar charges (maybe 20) when we only took 3 or 4 items. However, at the end of the bill there were 15 credits. I wondered why the maid took our leftovers out of the fridge.

SS, Same happened to me in Feb. at the Mirage.

I had gotten sick the last time we were there, so the wife ordered some Soup. I had some but there was leftover.
So My wife moved a few things around in the Mini-Bar to fit the Soup in there. Plus she likes to walk around with a cold soda, so she would pick here on soda in there to keep cold.

Lucky that the Wife likes to check every couple of days to see what we get charged.
There was like $133 worth of Charges in the first 2 days!!

I was going to call my Host, but the wife said she would Handle it.
She had to call down to tell them what she did. She had a hard time but she got it done.

Also FWY. Also got Charged for things she ADDED to the mini bar, not just moved around. LOL

I would have to question the legality of these charges.

Usually if you just move the stuff back over the sensors its fine. As long as its still the same weight.

I never knew they were on sensors. I had a CC charge on the mini-bar that I never even touched. I called the hotel (can't remember which one it was) and they happily removed the charge with no hassle.

I just called Hard Rock, and they agreed to remove the charge, the charge was removed at Venetian while I was there.

Still waiting on Palms, I called there and they transferred me to a manager but I got "voicemail" so far no reply.

They do warn you check in not to touch things, but they are so sensitive anything causes them to charge.

Again, I cant imagine how many people dont report these mistakes and how much money they make off this.

Usually if you just move the stuff back over the sensors its fine. As long as its still the same weight.

You have 60 seconds to place the item back or it charges

It should not cost you to look.

The door was ajar to the mini bar once when I ckecked in so I closed it pushing some of the items and they tried to charge me for 20 some items.

By no means is this a Vegas gig-it's all over the country in high end hotels.

(and yes, it's a borderline scam)
