LAS VEGAS, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Saying that winning $3.2 million was made even better because he won it downtown, Las Vegas cab driver Robert Baker proudly showed off his oversized ceremonial check to tourists on Fremont Street Sunday evening after he hit the jackpot on an Elvira®, Mistress of the Dark(TM) Video Slots machine at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino.
The jackpot was the largest ever hit on a nickel slot machine and sets a new world record for the denomination. The Elvira® machine is on IGT's (NYSE: IGT - News) Spooky Slots(TM) progressive system which reset at $100,000. On progressive slot machines, the jackpot grows larger as the game is played.
"I play nickel progressives," Baker said, "they are my favorites and it really paid off today!"
But come Monday, he says he'll be behind the wheel of his taxi as usual. "I need to take some time to figure out what I'm going to do from this point and going about my life as usual seems like the best way to keep my feet on the ground," he said. Other than that, he says the only thing he knows for sure is that he'll fulfill a lifelong dream to buy a Lincoln Town Car.
