Laptop computer problem!

I have a compaq laptop. Of course it is really an HP though. I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem.


All of a sudden, 2 nights ago, HP WIRELESS ASSISTANT no longer is working on my computer! I cant get it to come up by doing anything. It is almost as though it was uninstalled. I can find where it says to enable it, but nothing happens when I click on the open. Has this ever happened to any of you??


This computer is around 13 months old. Of course it was used more than most laptops. It is now basically useless for wireless. It can still get the net via a wired connection or through a USB modem like Verizon Wireless.

Does anyone know what could have happened?

Do you have a switch on the side of the laptop for Wireless ?
Should be a small switch on the right side ( most laptops ) to turn on or off any wireless

Or do you see the wireless program when you go into your My Computer ?
Add and remove programs

do a system restore under programs, accessories, system tools to a date when it was working.

check and see if there is a wireless button like he said. i have a wireless on off button on top of my keyboard.

I do know where the wireless button is located and it is switched on.

I will try a system restore later today.

HP laptops had a recall for the wireless card, I had to send my HP in to get replaced, always check if there is a recall

It's funny this is posted today because the last couple of days, my HP laptop is no longer automatically recognizing my wireless router and in most cases, even when I try to connect manually, it doesn't work.

I'm also noticing that once I am able to connect, I can't stream videos and pictures take forever to load.

Sell it on eBay don't tell them it's broken, then don't send it to them and keep the money.

Do that like 5 times and just buy a new one. I've heard it's worked for you before?

I have found out today that alot of people are having trouble with HP WIRELESS ASSISTANT

My first computer was a Compaq laptop, and it was a horrible experience from beginning to end (when it mercifully committed suicide and stopped working).

I spent more time with their (horrible) cs than I did online.
