I was at that Oilers game.
I went with my father, my uncle and a good friend. I wanted to leave at HT, but my uncle insisted "we'd paid for these seats, so we're going to sit here and watch the game" ... good thing we did ... but alot of people didn't ..
After the Oiler CB picked Reich for a TD to start the 3rd the stadium started emptying, about 10 game minutes later everyone was demanding to be let back in (most tossed their stubs) so they just opened the gates ...
some of the things I'll remember most ..
1. OJ did the game with NBC. My buddy (we were just young teenagers at the time) got his autograph and I swear to God OJ had tight leather gloves. I asked for one too, but OJ was basically a dick and left after 3 autographs.
2. Thurman Thomas. He pulled a groin in the game, but played as much as he could. He was 2nd to last out of the locker room (Kelly was always last) and he stopped for a group of about 10 of us and talked for about 30 minutes. Talked about the game, the injury ... it was awesome. Thomas was rumored to be a real asshole, but I never saw it .. he was cool as hell.
3. Kent Hull. He spent about 45 minutes talking to us kids while his wife sat in his pickup truck waiting. He talked the most about the Bills leather jacket his wife bought him for Xmas .. he was so proud. A class act & the most humble pro I've ever met.
Steve Tasker talked for a bit too - another nice guy.
Plus, I have to say the Oilers were the most gracious team I've ever seen ... Warren Moon was about to get on the team bus but got off to sign an autograph for a little kid in a Oilers jersey ... another class act.
The only dickhead I remember was Mark Pike ... a 4th string DE/ special teams guys for the Bills .. he basically said that "I don't do autographs" ... well guess what Marko - nobody asked for one you 4th string loser
