I think the live lines is a nice feature...but 1 problem I run into when using it for college sports...

with so many games on the screen (almost 50 today), if I leave the "refresh" on, it kicks me back to the top...any way to keep the screen in the same spot when it refreshes? Like if I am watching #389 on the schedule, let it stay there near the bottom of the rotation while it refreshes?

not a programmer, but I guess something similar to the sportsline live score software, where everything changes but you don't actually refresh the whole page.

Tree,
I agree with your suggestion about finals .. in fact I think all games that have started should also be moved to the bottom.

Let's be honest here -- if you really need a score you go to ESPN or CBSSportsline. If you need free line shoping -- you come here :)

I'll talk to Kenneth about this change & see if he would like it in place.

If anyone has any objections -- speak now.

Drunkguy,
Unfortunately, the CBS solution is not an easy migration for us. I agree it would be great -- but we do not have the resources at hand to build/maintain such a system.

Would having "quick links" at the top be a nice comprise?

Maybe next to the big
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD noWrap width=306>LIVE ODDS </TD><TD align=right width=440>Rotations provided by </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><TABLE borderColor=red cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="101%" bgColor=red border=0><TBODY><TR bgColor=#cc0000><TD width="1%"></TD><TD class=style2 width="45%">NCAA FB</TD><TD><TABLE cellSpacing=2 cellPadding=2 width="77%" align=right border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=center><TD width="50%"></TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>
MLB

</TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>
NFL

</TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>

</TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
we could do a

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD noWrap width=306>LIVE ODDS </TD><TD align=right width=440>Rotations provided by </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><TABLE borderColor=red cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="101%" bgColor=red border=0><TBODY><TR bgColor=#cc0000><TD width="1%"></TD><TD class=style2 width="45%">NCAA FB

300..325 326..350 351..375 376..400

</TD><TD><TABLE cellSpacing=2 cellPadding=2 width="77%" align=right border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=center><TD width="50%"></TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>
MLB

</TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>
NFL

</TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>

</TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
And those would be quick anchor links to jump down to the appropriate rot num?

Just brainstorming here. Your feedback is appricated & welcomed.

I don't think we'll win, but I like our chances to cover.
The JETS can be run on ... so maybe the clock will just keep running before we get our asses thoroughly kicked :)

lander...something like that might work...just trying to scroll back through and find your game when it refreshes is a pain in the ass.

DrunkGuy,
I understand your frustrations. Until a more friendly solution is rolled out, you can always set the refresh rate to 'OFF'

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=746 border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=top bgColor=#ff0000><TD colSpan=2 height=20><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD noWrap width=306>LIVE ODDS </TD><TD align=right width=440></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><TABLE borderColor=red cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="101%" bgColor=red border=0><TBODY><TR bgColor=#cc0000><TD width="1%"></TD><TD class=style2 width="45%">NFL</TD><TD><TABLE cellSpacing=2 cellPadding=2 width="77%" align=right border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=center><TD width="50%"></TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>
MLB

</TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>

</TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>

</TD><TD class=style8 noWrap width="19%" bgColor=#ff6600>

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR><TR><TD align=left width="20%" height=7>Games are listed in ET.</TD><TD align=right width="80%" height=7>Select the rate (... [30] [45] [60] [90] OFF

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Of course, you'll need to manually refresh if you do that, or click a different rate when you're done scrolling.

Do you think a slower rate than 90 seconds might be useful?

I just looked at the live lines page and I have a couple suggestions to your problem:

1.) If you turn the refresh rate off, scroll to your game of choice, and then right-click the mouse and hit refresh, it will jump down to where you were on the page with a clean set of lines.

2.) Lander, this one is for you... I dont know what code you have behind the auto-refresh... but if you are just reloading the page, you may be able to fix his problem. If you make the code a javascript:refresh (mimic a user refresh) it may play the same and jump down to where the user was on the screen.

Hello Mike,
Thanks for the input. At one point I had a javascript refresh, but changed it to refresh it with the META refresh solution because there were issues on the WebTVs.

Mind you, that was over a year ago, and I could not tell you if WebTV has improved their product to bet support scripting. I have never used the product myself, so it was tough to troubleshoot.

Regards,
Me
