I have done extensive research on this game. IMO this looks like an easy cover, as long as Kansas can play like they did against KState. Nebraska was in a similar spot IMO, but it was like they were on the practicefield when playing Baylor (a smililarly horrible team). I think they are overrating Iowa State. People say Kansas sucks on the road, but how much of a road game is Iowa State really?

Any thoughts?

Honestly NO. I haven't thought about it much at all...since I bet it. They might not cover. You never know. Heck Florida lost SU to msu...

However, when you get a line like this one, you bet it. Twice :D I really don't see how they don't cover. If they don't, my mind will be blown...and so will my wallet :drink:

KU is vastly improved defensively, but their offense is still suspect, especially on the road. Iowa State stinks, but they did cover late in the game in low-scoring affair @ Colorado 2 weeks ago.

KU is the better team on paper, but in a low-scoring game it's easier to lose on a late backdoor cover on a fluke TD, INT, etc. If I take a favorite on the road, it is a team I am confident in to score points and play defense, and I don't see that yet in KU. I am probably staying away from this game. GL

Yea...I plan on taking KU and all...just wanting imput. I think the line is so low b/c they have lost 3 of last 4 or something. Vegas may see their wheels falling off. But come on, this is Iowa State....

Iowa St. sucks, Kansas wins by 14 +. I go to school here and watch them play every week. This team is nothing special.

Yeah, ISU sucks, used to live there. If KU wants to continue their slim hope of a bowl game they need to take care of the Cyclowns.

here's the thing i started out the week loving kansas also but this team is horrible on the road the find ways to lose...since mangino has arrived they are 3-15 straight up on the road..they led northwestern by ten in the fourth earlier this year and gave it away. they are so inept on the road they are constantly being grilled by the local media about this here's what they had to say today at the press conference.

mangino...On playing on the road: "It is tough, there is no question about it. We played well at Northwestern, but we didn't get the win and that is all that really matters. We played really well in Lincoln, especially on the defensive side of the ball, but didn't come out with the win. Oklahoma might be the best team in the country. I can't tell you how much I admire how our kids compete and fight. With our kids, home or on the road, you are going to get the same effort out of them. They play with the same enthusiasm at all times."

Sophomore Safety #32 Rodney Harris

On winning on the road: "We need to finish out the game. If you look at all the games we have played this year, we have played well in the first half. This week we are emphasizing on playing strong in all four quarters and finishing." On second half struggles: "Fatigue is always going to happen. No one is Superman out there. We just seem to have breakdowns at the wrong time and there are a lot of mental factors to it. We start off strong, we just haven't finished strong."

Junior Defensive End #99 Charlton Keith On finishing road games: "I look at a road game as the same game, the environment doesn't matter. There is really no excuse, we just have to get it done."

Junior Offensive Lineman

#55 Matt Thompson On the team's attitude: "The team attitude is good. We want to continue to improve and get victories on the road. We have come very close this season. This is the game for us. All of our focus and energy is going into Iowa State and there is no reason for us to have any hesitation this weekend." On winning on the road: "I think it comes down to maturity. The rest of the season is on the line for us. There is urgency and an overwhelming sense of intensity. We really want to get this win. There are four games left in the season. If we don't win these games we won't have a chance at post-season play."

<!-- STORY AD BEGINS HERE -->
....take what will from this...i like this team and believe randle is a stud and so is clark green...i am a little concerned about this team not settling on a quarterback though lately and after reading much about this team lately i am not going to make a very big play on this game if any.

Thanks for the input...yea, I know they struggle on the road. But I just don't think Iowa State is a the "typical" road game. Will the stands even be full?

Stingrays-- I am glad I got your input. Like to have hear from someone that has a 1st-hand view of the program..

Good luck to everyone this weekend..

Winning on the road is not difficult only because of a hostile environment. The effects of travel make a difference etc. One note on Kansas: their road woes predate the Mangino regime, and from what I saw the one time I saw KU play on the road, I will suggest that the problems have something to do with administrative indifference to KU's efforts to go on the road and win.

KU was the opponent for the grand opening of SMU's new stadium a few years ago, and the temperature at game time was -- no exaggeration -- 106 degrees. (Same weekend as that Cowboys-Eagles game where Deuce Staley was drinking pickle juice to avoid cramps....) It was a 6:00 kickoff, and the KU side of the field was still in the sun. They had NOTHING to keep the team cool -- no Cool Zone etc. KU lost straight up as a double-digit favorite, of course. Just an anecdote that doesn't have much to do with this week's game, except that the fact that ISU will have less than an intimidating crowd does not mean that ISU will not have a homefield advantage.
