Krackman Article

I just got done reading Krackman's article and thought he made two comments that were opinion rather than fact.

1) Middlers are sharp players...False. Middlers are practicing arbitrage while sharp players are making wagers which involve taking a position. Billy Walters is sharp while players like Reno, Clown, and Krackman are successful scalpers but are not originators.

2) Books move off Cascade openers...FALSE. If he has been in any office recently he would see that the middlers are the ones betting off the Cascade openers thus causing books to move.

I respect Cascade's management as being very sharp but Cascade like others including Pinnacle and Olympic base their lines frequently on what they are wagering on and thus not many books feel comfortable following their numbers. Del Mar, CRIS, Grande, and Jazz are not betting operations and have no reason to move other than on action.
I know Krackman was and might still be a very successful player but his knowledge of day to day activities is slanted by his inability to scalp and not by facts.

I like Cascade a lot and play there daily.

But they never put their line up until noon, by which time Pinnacle and 5 Dimes (for two) have thousands in the back already.

Pinnacle has been really good at getting their alternates up early (8 p.m of the day before) of late too, thanks guys....

I knew someone would say that a middler is not a sharp player. I consider someone sharp if they take advantage of a situation that is profitable. Yes of course a sharp player is someone that bets a line before the screen goes black and even then if they are not the originator some will think they are not sharp. I consider someone being sharp if they play middles all day and then dont blow there money back on there own opinion on the Yankee game.

So now I find myself little edges and have turned into more of a gambler then anything. Having a lot of outs on and off the screen you can find a variety of things to bet on. I wager more on odd sports like golf, nascar, wnba, and arena then anything else. I find the line movement and info is better then that of NBA and Baseball. Though I would recommend following the money on baseball early morning total moves.

The article was just stating the FACTS THAT THERE ARE NOT MIDDLES LIKE THERE ONCE WERE. And I don't care who says what if Cascade moves a line other books move on air. And that's a FACT.

Also in my best days of scalping I always took a position. If a line was -120 and went to -140 I would bet more on the -120 because I felt that was the so called bad line. I still do the same thing.

I know a sportsbook manager who specifically waits for cascades openers to come up and "shades his line toward some of them" he told me it himself. No I will not reveal it because it does not matter.

But I can agree to disagree (-;

I like one thing Historian said in a different thread "scalpers keep the shop open when the fav's win"

Cascade's real openers are not available for public consumption.

The Cascade public opener has the lowest mean error(of any book mentioned in this thread) vs the concensus closing line in MLB last season and thru the beginning of this one.

Here are facts.
1. Cascades lines on the screen are set up towards what they are playing. If they can't get off at the numbers they are looking for they adjust there numbers to get the action that way.
2.I also know of more than one shop that clones Cascades lines and won't open until Cascades's numbers come up.
3.Delmar, not Cascade has the sharpest baseball line, but not everyone is priveledged to getting it.
4. I can go into a 10 page report on how the lines are so manipulated on the Screen its a joke.
5.In my opinion, of the books on the screen, the only ones to ALWAYS give you the line they are showing is Grande,Cascade, and hollywood. The others will put you on hold or quote you a different line.
I wish I had more time to expand on the article, but those of us on the inside with knowledge of who is betting and so on, know that the REAL MONEY is being bet offscreen and the Screen doesn't even move until all the followers start playing or is being cleand up after all the offscreens are hit. Usualy its an ofscreen out who likes to bet who will hit the screen because he has no where else to go to get the right number. But it is usually figured out who is betting and that offscreen won't even get played anymore becasue he ruins the screen.

Just about all of you wrote something good in this thread, but Historian's post has more truth than anyone elses. The majority of the middlers are sharp people but not sharp gamblers. Wiseguys are gamblers, they play their opinion rather than try to scalp a profit. Cascade has sharp lines but their opening lines are to make scalpers bet at other shops so they can get down. The good shops don´t move on air, they actually get played by the scalpers. I know a lot of this has been said already but I am just trying to repeat the facts rather than opinions.

If you play at enough stores you will see who uses cascade's openers. I am not saying they clone them all day, just the opening numbers..

For baseball, it really shouldn't matter who has what line. Consider a game that is -200 at one shop, -180 at another, if that side wins and you are on it you score either way no matter what you laid. i guess it would matter more if you roll is smaller, but for baseball its kind of a mute point, on favorites anyway.

Underdogs is an entire different story.

Seems as if you've really missed the gist of this thread. And as an aside you are a COMPLETELY WRONG. If given the choice of taking -175 or -176, I am taking the -175 all day, every day. You are not going to win every bet you make. Getting the best price possible for both faves and dogs is essential to success. Good luck.

not going to even attempt to argue with HISTORIAN, basically right on the money...........however i will side with KRACKMAN on the "sharp" issue.........


a "sharp" IMO is someone that takes the gamble out of gambling, therefore a person who takes advantage of a middle situation...is not a square
