Perhaps during the Roman Empire this unfortunate situation may have been allowed to continue. It was not unusual during those times to have an underdog to have the opportunity to fight to his death.
Sadly, tonight our underdog, while having the best of the match on points, was losing the match of living tomorrow. Okay, that's melodramatic. Vision in his left eye was really all that was on the line.
Whether the round selected to stop the fight was quick or not, how can anyone say the fight could have safely gone on much longer?

the last time i complained about a fight being stopped, i saw on the news the next day that the boxer had died.
it was very strange. he seemed ok the night of the fight. hell, he was even pissed off about it being stopped.
i decided that day that i wouldnt complain about a fight being stopped anymore.

Good point for sure! I understand where everyone is coming from as I would have loved to see the Russian win the fight.
As it turned out, the fight was enjoyable and everyone is still alive so far! If Lewis is willing to get serious (I doubt this) a rematch could be huge.
My prediction is Lewis "fights" the light-weight Klitsky, wins of course and fights a big-time pay-per-view next June with whichever Klitsky this is (they are kinda hard to tell apart).

Seriously...these guys are professional fighters. I've had worse cuts than that and had to wait 2 hours in the ER. You're trying to tell me Klitschko couldn't have lasted another 2-3 rounds in the shape he was in? He gets paid for this sh!t. Lennox could barely stand up, and Vitali had all the energy in the world. Let them do what they're paid for, and let them box. NObody was in danger of death here...
