When they do expand the playoff system, I have always wanted them to only go to 6, but I think it will be 8.
6 would give a greater value to the regular season still by having the top two teams get byes into the semis.
I know the argument will always be there for team 7 & 8, but if you look at the past few years, those teams at 7 & 8 in the final ranking before the playoffs aren't legit contenders.
my 02.
I know these guys are paid to be controversial, but c'mon Herbstreit. Yesterday during the Clemson game when asked about the top 4 ranking, he says not only should Georgia rank in the top 4, but they should move up to 3 after losing the conference championship to Alabama. WTF?! Move up? How does that work?
There clearly can be a fair debate on Georgia remaining in the top 4 but moving up is bullshit. Herbstreit claims the conference championships don't mean anything. I disagree. Georgia had their destiny in their hands and they lost. In no way can I see a team moving up, just because another team (Notre Dame) didn't play. That's absurd. I predict Georgia will be on the outside looking in when the final 4 come out and Oklahoma will be in.
Take away wins and losses and conference titles.
Is Georgia better than Oklahoma?
Is Oklahoma better than Georgia?
What do your eyes tell you?

My eyes tell me Alabama beat Georgia so no need to see it again. Next up. Few years ago Michigan and Ohio state played a great game and everyone debated hat should be the national championship game. Florida got it instead and whipped Ohio state. Once you lose to an opponent at this point of the year there isn’t a need to see the same game again. The eye test doesn’t need to be used when a scoreboard is used and there is a loser.
I think Michigan ended up losing again so that game wasn't going to happen anyway
ESPN projections gives Ohio St over a 70% chance of getting int and OKla less then 30.. not saying I agree with it , but its interesting to say the least. as far as a 8 team diminishing the regular season. that's nonsense. if anything it will add to the regular season knowing that you win your conference , you're in
