How does he come out of this unscathed? Gave up 1100 plus yards against Auburn and Ohio State but it is all Lane Kiffin's fault? Kirby has the best talent in America and gets lit up like a Christmas tree.

I've been asking that same question. Maybe because it's Saban's side of the ball. Where it was Manziel lighting them up 2x before he left school, Auburn last year as well as this year or Oklahoma, seems like someone should be held accountable.

Didn't they have nine guys from the two deep go to the NFL in the 2014 NFL draft? The hate for the SEC is in full effect all over this board after the abysmal showing of the mighty West in the bowl games. Jeez, I've seen everything from the SEC has completely fallen apart, Saban is a bum, conspiracy theories stating the championships were somehow manufactured by the media, on and on and on....

I agree Smart and the defense didn't play well, but he is still a hell of a coach. Alabama still recruits with the best of them and this was likely one of their lesser teams in years. I'm not an Alabama supporter, but this team will be just fine and so will the SEC, sorry to rain on everybody's parade.

Ohio State sure looks like they are going to be a side to be reckoned with in coming years, great coach, very young, recruits with the best of them and a conference that is probably a few years away from regaining their swagger.

Meh....it's one year. It's the pass defense that sucked. Run dee was still pretty good. They are young. They were fortunate to have a fairly easy schedule with no really potent offenses until Allburn and OSU, who both lit them up. They should be better next year if they can learn to stop QBs that can run the ball and pass

If Bama gives up a bunch of points to good offenses next year....then there should be talk. But IMO it's premature to talk about it.

I do hope next year we dont just default SEC to the top of the heap like we have in past years. They mostly deserved it due to past years but hopefully we'll see a bit more evenness in the rankings instead of just ranking the Tide #1 because....Bama.

Let's face it guys! How many really good defenses are there in college football now? Offenses are way ahead and with the rules set up to protect recievers and qb's I'm not sure when it will get better!

LOL. How was this thread hate for the SEC?? Maybe you misread the post. I asked the question why Kirby Smart was getting a pass for his horrendous defensive effort yesterday and everyone was criticizing Lane Kiffin. If that is "hate for the SEC" I guess I am confused.

Back to Kirby Smart, he has the best talent in the country year after year and the Alabama defense has not proven they can stop up tempo offenses. Remember Oklahoma lit them up last year. I think the Alabama fans need to take a look at the defensive side of the ball a little closer and not place all the blame on Kiffin and the offense (that did score 35 points).

I wasn't directing the SEC hate comment towards you. Just a general comment about the amount of ridiculous threads on here lately on that topic. I agree, Kiffin doesn't deserve the bashing based on their performance, especially with a sub-par QB at best.

Its very simple. If you want to criticize the Bama defense, you are criticizing Saban. Saban is regarded as the defensive guru and is a sacred cow.
