I never imagined a day where I would be writing a thread about this.

In light of the way the kicker in now influential a lot of these outcomes should we be adding a stat line on kickers to add into consideration when capping a game...

God I can't believe I just typed that. :bowl:

Im leaning towards yes and adding it to my sheets this week..

Thoughts??

I would say yes. It has been crazy how bad kicking field goals and PATs have been this year. Believe i saw a stat this past Sunday that there have been already the same amount of misses this year as there was the entire 2014 season.

The worst I had seen was Scobee of the Steelers, it was Week 2 against the niners that Tomlin had opted to go for 2-pts after each score because that was more successful than Scobee kicking. He has basically missed multiple times in every game this year, probably costed them numerous times. Which can explain the team releasing him over the weekend...

Teams are cutting corners on kickers, saving money. Kickers are getting younger and have less experience.

Its one thing to kick on a practice field, another thing to kick in a game with pressure.

I wouldn't change your handicapping based on a kicker. You can't predict a miss or make.

Should it be taken into consideration for when one is looking at game totals? If more kicks are being missed or more 2pts are being attempted, do key numbers for totals still be of focus?

Don't think it affects capping, though a crucial miss will either burn or help a lot of guys at some point. With 2pt conversions at about 50%, if a kicker ain't nails from the new distance, it may pay to go for two regularly. What they've done is turn the EP into a medium range one point FG.

I heard a theory that these XP's are getting into the heads of kickers and affecting their FG tries as well. No more gimmies to warm up out there. Makes some sense.

I think going forward kicker stats are a seriously consideration when playing over/unders.
Whats going to happen when the weather turns? Now the kickers have no confidence from the short XPs and they have to deal with wind, rain, snow and game pressure... Going to get interesting this fall.

The current kicker situation does provide convenient ammo for the NFL to justify moving the extra point back...

Absolutely

kickers should have always been in your work right beside return specialist and avg starting field position.
