Keep focused, TCU had 450 yds and Boise was under 200. TCU should have covered Frog backers. Losses are losses, but we need to stay on the same track and you'll win more than lose.

Hawaii has faced 5 teams with Top 50 Defenses: scored 10 on Florida, 7 on Oregon St, 17 on San Jose St, 7 on Boise St, and 24 on Cincinnati. They went 0-5 in those games, 2 of those games were at home. Thats an average of 11 points per game. Notre Dame is 38th Total Defense and their Passing Defense is their strength. They also get 2 starters back on D, who missed the final 2-3 games.

Hawaii always has better production on Offense at home, however, and Notre Dame had no problems scoring against bad defenses. Hawaii is 75th in Total Defense. That makes this total dangerous.

If Notre Dame is motivated, they should win this game. Notre Dame or no play for me due to the obvious struggles for Hawaii against decent Defense.

Feel free to add.

good analysis... will definitely keep that in mind. I have a unit on Notre Dame and a unit on the under 49.. but thinking about putting more units on the game... hmm

They will be very motivated with the disappointing season and with Weiss knowing he's coming back. ND by at least a TD.

Weiss will have them motivated because if they lose this game then he is a dead man walking next year and next season will essentially be his farewell tour.
Weiss cannot lose this game and will stress the importance of this game to his YOUNG team in terms of building momentum for next season. While ND has sucked the last few years, they are young and they have been recruiting well. They will be returning a ton of guys next year and should be improved next year if Weiss doesn't fuck it up.
ND by 9+ points.

Which one of the following offenses was going to pile stats up against ND's D?

Here is a ranking of the pass offenses ND has faced:

SDSU -39
Michigan -108
Michigan State -59
Purdue -28
Stanford-103
North Carolina-83
Washington-100
Pittsburgh-60
Boston College-93
Navy -118
Syracuse-113
Southern California-31

Not exactly the big 12 when it comes to passing. ND played 5 times that rank worse than 100th in the pass game

very good post,

Syracuse is a big plie of crap and they went into to Southbend and won. We found out Navy lacked character with that Wake Forest melt down. Hawaii got a lot better when they put Alexander in. They had very good Cincy beat and let them off the hook. Clausen is the worst 5 star qb in the history of ncaa football. Notredame didnt pass the 50 vs USC until very late in the game. They got skunked by NAvy. Hawaii did make Florida punt 4 times in the 1st half.

I live in Hawaii and have to say that UH is not a good team! Coach Mack makes some horrible decisions and IMHO is undeserving of a head coaching job. He may be a very good defensive coach, but struggles with the overall aspects of the game.

ND has been here since last week Thursday (I think) and everything has been good for them here......weather, hospitality and their attitude. They seem to be looking at the game as something serious, rather than a holiday.... which Cinnci did and we know how they came out on the field.

I think UH might try to come out early, but once ND gains control, UH will collapse like they always do!

Anyways, hate to back the visitors, so I'll say UH for the 1st half and ND for the game and 2nd half.

Good luck to all!

Guys, at some point, you can use Statistics to find the true strengths of a team. Now is that time. Its useless quoting what Notre Dame did against SD State.

The fact is that Notre Dame gave up more than 25 points only 3 times all season. It is their strength, and its also very obvious that Hawaii struggles mightily against good defense, as stated above.

Notre Dame's Defense is the only strong point for either team.

Again, I ask you which of the teams Notre Dame played had good offenses?

There will be Irish fans and alumni at the game.
This game gave them an excuse to get out of the cold weather in the upper-midwest/Northern Indiana.

Only decent offenses ND played were UNC, Pittsburgh, and USC who all both up 29 points or more.

Stats are a great tool. Sometimes, intangibles are good too. I think this is one of those games where intangibles come into play. I am hesitant to even say this because I haven't posted enough to be credible but here goes. You guys can believe it, disregard it as useless information, call me an ass or whatever. I am a coach at a fairly big high school in Ohio. We get college coaches in quite a bit this time of year to look at kids. A defensive coordinator from a BCS (not ND) school was in not too long ago. He was worried to death about playing at Hawaii because, "it's a different world down there. They play at a different speed and that chanting and shit before the game fucks the kids up. And the week before the game it's like they fatten you up for the slaughter." Now, his team won the game, but it was closer than expected...take it for what it's worth.

I agree. I have learned the hard way after losing a lot money betting against Hawaii at home. The UH teams I was betting against were not even good teams.
