PROTEST ZONES

If Bush Wins--or Steals--This Election, Don't Just Sit There

If Bush gets reelected on November 2--if half of our fellow citizens lose their minds, or if he manages to steal the election again--storming Seattle's federal offices, prisons, and property will let him know that we're not going down without a fight this time. Here's a list of federal sites in Seattle that could be perfect places to protest:

JACKSON FEDERAL BUILDING--915 Second Ave. The Jackson Federal Building, which houses everything from the Office of Civil Rights (ironic, no?) to the U.S. Government bookstore, was the site of an unsuccessful antiwar protest in March, 2003. The key to demonstrating at the Federal Building is organization: Agree on the terms of the march, and do everything in your power to avoid jaywalking in front of the building (the police really hate that). If things get out of control, seek refuge in the office of Senator Patty Murray (she doesn't really like W. either).

INS DETENTION CENTER--815 Airport Way. The 150 detainees at Seattle's INS Detention Center would no doubt be cheered by the sounds of protestors gathering outside the walls. The thought of another four years of Bush as president and the joys that go along with that--being jailed with no evidence of terrorist activity, all in the name of "preserving liberty" through the PATRIOT Act--probably depresses them too.

BALLARD LOCKS--3015 NW 54th St. As long as you're not brown-skinned and carrying a camera, you won't, like one unfortunate Seatle resident, attract the attention of Tom Ridge's Dept. of Homeland Security by marching on the Ballard Locks. We don't know why you would want to march on the locks but, hey, the fish ladder is cool and there's a big hill you can roll down. And there's a lot of parking, unlike at the Federal Building downtown.

That takes care of Seattle. But if we wind up with another 2000-style deadlock--if election results are contested in Ohio or Florida, or if Republicans try to stop people from voting in any state--that's where the real action will be. Protestors with guts should head to those states to make their voices heard. And if Bush manages to steal the election, then we'll see you in D.C. in January. Bring some eggs.

These peacenics are so violent. Have you seen all the Republican campaign offices they've looted, vandalized and shot up. They'll probably let them destroy the city, the ACLU has demoralized the thin blue line.

......??

Its like watching Germany in the 30's.

But they all speak english to each other

I'm relying heavily on the millions of ordinary Americans coming over the hill and squishing this nonsense, then getting on with their lives.

One day. Nov 2 2004.

The Edwards clan is getting ready for a battle:

EDWARDS WIFE: NO RIOTS IF WE WIN

The wife of Dem vice presidential hopeful John Edwards said on Sunday there will be no riots around the election -- if Kerry/Edwards wins!

C-SPAN cameras captured spouse Elizabeth Edwards making the startling comments to a supporter during a Kerry Campaign Town Hall Meeting in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Supporter: Kerry's going to take PA.

Liz Edwards: I know that.

Supporter: I'm just worried there's going to be riots afterwards.

Liz Edwards: Uh.....well...not if we win.

eek said "Its like watching Germany in the 30's."

And for once I do agree - the Democrats do remind me of the Nazi's in the 30's. Their tactics, their attacks, their use of the "big lie" strategem is reminisent of that period.
Now these "Storm trooper" groups are starting to show up and attack anyone who disagrees with them. In Massachusetts, it's the union thugs beating up on old men and women.
If Kerry is elected, we could be seeing the end of freedom in the United States.

Sorry, President Cheney and company started this crap ... the "Anti-American" crap of questioning the most secretive administration in this countrys history has brought on the problems that are in place right now

Ya have Hannity / Coulter screaming at folks that they are "Traitors" to this country for disagreeing with an illegal war??? For being pissed off for having our kids in a hellhole called Iraq with excuses ranging from "Imminent Threats" to "Liberating the Iraqi citizens .."

This administration is identical to the Nazi propaganda tactics used in the 30's ... look at Cheney and his "vote for Kerry and they will hit us on our soil with Nukes???"

Its good to see the Dems have the balls to stand up and give President Cheney & Company a taste of the tactics they use so reguarly

Doc -

Hannity and Coulter - gimmee a break - the leftists have the NY Times, Boston Globe, LA Times, Washington Post, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, CNN, HollyWood, the ACLU, and a bunch of other like minded groups, all telling lies, screaming obscenities and threatening law suits.

All of these people are trying to force their European values down Americas throat.

Next Tuesday we wil;l know which way the country is going - hopefully the country will continue to be "right" in its voting!

You obviously have never read a book on the rise of Nazi Germany, to equate what is happening in the US to what happened in Germany in the 20's and 30's is ridiculous, regardless of who you are backing.

We need our authorities and law enforcement protecting our country and our streets, not wasting there time with a bunch of protesting maniacs. You Democrats are amazing. The election has not even started yet and your brainstorming protests after his defeat.

By the way, why is Kerry all up in arms all of a sudden about this missing ammunition?
Wasn't he who believes our troops should not have even been there in the first place because there were no weapons of mass destruction ever found and that they were not a threat. But now, all of a sudden it's a major threat because these weapons according to Kerry can be in the hands of terrorists. That is exactly what Bush has been saying all along and the reason we are over there. KERRY will do or say anything for a vote.

Bluesters ...

Kerry will do anything to get a vote ??? I think that goes just as strongly for Bush ...

Give the Dems a break .. they aint gonna take Rove's Nazi election tactics this time around .... and who can blame em after the crap pulled in the 2000 election ...

Again, let me refresh thy memory:

* In the 94 election, Bush had the rumor spread that Anne Richards was a Lesbian
* In the 2000 SC Primary, Bush had the rumor spread that McCain had a black child and was mentally unstable from the Vietnam POW scenario

I would not be slamming Kerry so hard considering Bush's tactics when it comes to elections

Doc - In 1970 and 71, Kerry spread the rumor that attrocities were widespread in Vietnam, when it is well known that any attrocities that did occur were very limited and well reported.
In 1971 Kerry went to Paris - twice - and colluded withn thye North Vietnamese.

Kerry is a well known TRAITOR! How any true blooded American can vote for this piece of human excrement is beyond my ability to understand - you mind as well vote for Willy Horton (AL Gore started that rumor)

LMAO.

Bush has bought this election again. May as well face the fact now and get over it.

God bless Iraq.

I am so glad that they will get a rebuilt country while health care, social security, veterans, cancer research, children hospitals, and elderly will continue to be ignored by Our Govt. Not to mention the 1000's of dead soldiers we seem not to care about.

Go Bush

And health care? That is gross when ya consider how many millions of Americans do not have health care ...

This Cheney led fiasco is a flappin nitemare ...

The Iraqis are actually paying their own way.

The main US cost, is its military.

Of the $18 billion pledged to Iraq, about $1 billion has actually been spent by the US, and the rest is on hold because of security issues.

The main Iraqi earner is of course the oil, and it is used to massively subsidise Iraqi society.
(I'm afraid its an al-j link)

Iraq to decrease subsidies

Most Iraqis relied on subsidised fuel, electricity and food rations under a United Nations-sponsored oil-for-food programme during the rule of Saddam Hussein.
After Saddam's overthrow, the interim government adopted the system which still provides a lifeline for a large portion of the population, many of whom are unemployed or earn only a meagre wage.

Seeking to soften the blow, the minister promised that the government would cancel subsidies slowly to ensure a minimal impact.

"They will progressively be reduced over the coming years," al-Hafidh said.

Oil in the financial year 2005 is expected to comprise 93% of the country's revenue, at some $18.1 billion.

Direct and indirect oil subsidies cost Iraq $8 billion - $2.4 billion of which is spent on imports to satisfy the local market, according to ministry figures.

Kerry's detailed plan and cornerstone of his campaign: "I'll do a better job than the other guy did." Weak.
