I think it can work early but I think he'll mesh them up later in the season and have his best 7 playing the most when conference and tourney time comes.
The SEC is pretty weak in b-ball. They can use either platoon and likely win the SEC.
Florida will be good once the suspended/injured players return (3 players missed the Miami game, including 2 starters). So, they might be able to give UK a good game. But there isn't much overall talent in the SEC. They'll be lucky to get more than the 3 teams they got into the tourney last year.
This is one of the most talented teams i've seen. You cannot go inside on them or it will get rejected. They beat a really good team by 32. Say what you want about Cal but the fact he gets the most talented guys in the world to play unselfish basketball is pretty amazing.
Karl Townes Jr. was a monster at St. Joes in Jersey, seen him play many times. Body wise and talent wise he will be NBA ready in a year or 2. Playing these platoons will not give any player any show boat time.
