CINCINNATI (July 17) -- Ken Griffey Jr. left the Cincinnati Reds' game against the Houston Astros on Thursday night after hurting his right foot while running out a double in the sixth inning.
Reds spokesman Rob Butcher said the outfielder injured a tendon.
Griffey led off the sixth with an opposite-field double that bounced off the wall in left field, and started limping shortly after rounding first base. He immediately was removed, and there were scattered boos before fans drowned them out with applause.
Injuries to both legs and his right shoulder have caused Griffey to miss 140 games since the 2000 season -- including 33 this year.
Going into the game, Griffey had homered in the last five games in which he had an at-bat.
Houston won the game 5-4.
