I presume Dsethi was intending to state..."game 5" in that last comment and I'll respond by saying I've heard no such info down here.
Quite simply, Shields is filthy at home, as is Garza.
And Kaz is quite simply the "4th starter"production-wiseout of this postseason group. We don't want to risk losing Game 5 AND also then having to turn to him in Game 6, which then increases chances of going to Game 7 and all that entails.
Likely Kaz will be encouraged not to worry one bit about pitch count and instead work to let it all hang out for four to five innings max. The only way he stays in longer is if Rays pull another offensive burst and have a multi run lead.
Then Maddon has a fully healthy bullpen, including Price, Jackson and Howell who can work 2 IP if needed before giving way to the final four late inning guys.
