This year's Kansas team is a big step down from last season's, most notably on defense. With the Sooners remaining in the Top 5 and Texas having a touch schedule still in front of them, Bob Stoops know he has chances left to both impress poll voters and sneak into the Big 12 title game if the Longhorns stumble -- and if both of those worked out there would still be a pretty good chance of seeing OU in the national championship game. So I expect the boys in Crimson to fire up their offense for everything it's worth against a defense that's not nearly as stingy as they were a year ago.

I took OU at -18 shortly after the lines were released. If I get a chance at taking Kansas at +21.5 or better, though, I'm going to be sorely tempted to try for a middle.

Gotta take Kansas or nothing here. Too many points in conference play even though Kansas isn't as strong as last year. Probably just a watch game... hard to tell how OU will react after the loss.

Check the injury status of WR, Meirer. Huge loss if he does not play. Kansas will need him to keep the chains moving if they have any chance to cover.

OU will win by 20+ here. I don't even think it's because Kansas is worse than last year, OU would have beaten them by 20+ then too. Kansas was as overrated as possible last year. They played one good team last year (not even a top tier team like OU) and got beat handily by Mizzou. The same Mizzou team that couldn't stay within 10 points of OU the two times they played. Kansas just isn't good enough to hang with top teams imo. If Kansas loses by less than three TD's they should be proud of themselves.

I will continue to argue that KU was overrated last year. They won at CU and OU didn't, and they won at KSU and Texas couldn't. Going 12-1 in the Big XII is very difficult regardless of not playing OU and Texas.
I do think that the number is about right this week. KU's weakness on defense is their pass defense and that happens to OU's strength. I wouldn't be surprised if KU had a back door cover.

Sometimes a loss can become 2. Just like Lou Holtz says, "don't let Texas beat us twice!" It would be great if OU is still mulling over the Texas game for much of this week. The more OU thinks about how they loss to Texas and the less they think about beating KU this Saturday, the better for us.

Apparently, Stoop made no mention of KU in his conference call on Monday. It was still about Texas.

otk! you are an idiot!

they got beat by the #1 team in the country at the time on a neutral feild by 1 td! beat a&m, k-st., osu, and colorado all on the road! almost hung 80 on neb. beat a top 15 v-tech team in the orange bowl! yeah they really sucked! ou is alot better than ku but they should be!

Got beat handily, we lost by 8pts...say all you want that we got taken for most of the game, but we put up a hell of a comeback in the 4th to bring within one score. Get you facts straight.

Slow recievers huh...I guess thats why they keep breaking out for 52 yd receptions and the 8th highest receiving yards in the nation. And without OU's staring MLB, Mier will be open and Sharp will get some big runs.

I don't care if Missouri was ranked #1, they were NEVER the best team in the country last year. I will argue that they were overrated last year also since they didn't beat Texas and lost to the only good team they played (OU) by double digits both times. If you actually remember the game too KU was never in a good position to win. 8 points was not indicative of how much Mizzou stomped them.

It's great that they were able to beat up on bad teams and take no one lightly. That shows a good team with very good coaching. That doesn't mean they're a great team though. A great team is a team that can compete with the best and no way in hell Kansas could have competed with the best last year. Line vs USC would have been USC -17.5 at the very, very least. Kansas was lucky and got another overrated team in Virginia Tech in their bowl game. Only better situation would have been getting Hawaii. If they would have gotten matched with LSU, Oklahoma, WVU, Florida, Michigan, Ohio St, Texas, or Georgia they would have gotten absolutely killed.

They have a good team, but not good enough to hang with the top teams like Oklahoma. If they keep this game within two scores I will be very impressed and give them praise because it would be surprising.

Bob Stoops does a pretty good job of making sure his team doesn't dwell on a loss in a way that affects their next game. Here's how the Sooners have fared after a loss in the 2000s (does not include Big 12 title games or bowl games):

Oklahoma 28, Texas 21
Oklahoma 49, Oklahoma State 17
Oklahoma 59, Middle Tennessee 0
Oklahoma 34, Iowa State 9
Oklahoma 31, Tulsa 15
Oklahoma 43, Kansas State 21
Oklahoma 19, Kansas 3
Oklahoma 42, Oklahoma State 14
Oklahoma 49, Baylor 9
Oklahoma 29, Colorado 7
Oklahoma 58, Tulsa 0

I don't watch much of Kansas but I do know Reasing favorite target #10 is a really good WR that is banged up severely.

BOL to you!

Meier's status is in question and he is Reesing main target when he needs a big reception or when he starts to scramble.
Who was the best team last year? It is still anybody's guess.

2006---everyone questioned how good Wake Forest was and 2008-still solid
2007-everyone questined how good Kansas was, all they did was win a BCS Bowl Game, thats not easy to do, just ask Hawaii, they were a fraud exposed by Georgia
As a Kansas State fan, I know where Kansas fans are coming from. It took years for Kansas State to get respect under Bill Snyder. And yes, they beat Oklahoma on the biggest stage as a huge underdog when everyone was calling OU the greatest team in history prior to that game. The point is that OU gets hyped up more than anyone with little to show for it. Oh ,they won a title, that was 8 years ago. What have they done lately in BCS Bowl Games??? They got waxed by West Virginia who didn't even have their regular coach. The year before that they lost to Boise State. Oklahoma should have waxed Boise like Georgia waxed Hawaii. I thought a fair line in this game would be Oklahoma -11, but I will gladly take the 18.5.

Best bet in this game will be the OVER. I look for Kansas to exploit the middle of Oklahoma's defense with their passing game like texas did. Still, Oklahoma will outscore Kansas and I THINK we might get this TOTAL in the high 50s.
