UMBC got into this tourney because Vermont overlooked them in the conf championship game. Vermont had already beaten them twice by a combined 43 points! Then the same thing happened when UVA overlooked them, thinking there's no way a #16 seed will ever win. Well there's no more surprises now. K-State is ready and waiting. Although K-State is not exactly Villanova, they play a physical style and at a tempo that matches whatever style game they are in. They can play up tempo (90 points vs Baylor, 87 vs Oklahoma) or slow it down and grind down their opponent (58-48 vs Texas).
I heard an interview today where UMBC's coach said that his team was "gassed" at the end of the UVA game. Well UVA plays the slowest tempo game in the NCAA, so if they were gassed in that game then K-State is going to run these Retrievers into the floor. UMBC only rotates in 3 or 4 players off the bench in most cases, so if any of the starters gets in foul trouble or doesn't hit the 3-pointers, this game will turn ugly quickly. Not to mention UMBC now in a letdown spot, and with pressure and national media on them. Expectations through the roof for the Cinderella. No. Their wad is blown...I'll take K-State -10. Thanks, cashier
