according to news, it is up to snyder to bench roberson. please. snyder will do ANYTHING to win...do you think he will be bothered by a little ol thing like sexual assault? roberson is his star qb. he could have shot the president and he still would start and snyder would quote "presummed innocent until proven guilty."

Why the books even pulled this is beyond me. there is absolutely no doubt snyder will start roberson.

He wasn't arrested or charged...an Arizona tv station has also said that there is no physical evidence (torn clothes, bruises).

If Roberson doesn't play, the curfew violation will be the reason.

I find it pretty interesting that while most media outlets are reporting the alleged sexual assault, the story on ESPN.com (an ABC-owned company) chooses to just mention the missed curfew:

Thursday, January 1, 2004

ABC: WILDCATS@BUCKEYES Fri., 8:00 PM ET

ESPN.com news services
Kansas State quarterback Ell Roberson's status for Friday night's Fiesta Bowl is in jeopardy, based on reports that he violated the team curfew.

The Wildcats had an 11 p.m. curfew on Wednesday, but Roberson was found to be out of his room at the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Plaza Resort at 4:30 a.m.

Kansas State athletic director Tim Weiser told ESPN that Coach Bill Snyder will determine whether Roberson will start or even play against Ohio State.

Roberson was not with the Kansas State players at a pep rally Thursday afternoon, where 14,000 K-State faithful gathered at the Well Fargo Arena on the Arizona State University campus, according to The Associated Press.

Faced with the possibility of his star quarterback not playing, Snyder told fans that the Wildcats will "need to show great courage, great perseverance and be tremendously focused on the task at hand."

"That might not be easy tomorrow evening," Snyder said.

The senior from Baytown, Texas, needs 57 yards to become the third Division I player to rush for 1,000 yards and pass for 2,000 in a season.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

What a joke. And you wonder why teams have curfews in the first place????????? Duh, to keep the players out of trouble!

Roberson shouldn't play. Whether or not there was sexual assault, it doesn't matter. He broke curfew, simple as that.

Lots of schools would suspend a player for breaking curfew. And I've heard that some schools (for the bowl games) will just give the kid a bus-ticket and tell him to go home. Unfortunately, some schools (cough cough F$U cough cough) don't care if their players break the rules.

And there seems to be a pretty strong corrleation between the teams that don't discipline their starters and those that win national titles on a consistent basis.

It's college football... If you want to run a clean, fair program -- don't expect to win consistently.
