Big 10 straight-up record:
NW 24, BG 28 LOSS
Mich St. 3, Neb 17 LOSS (Mich St. was totally non-competitive in that game)
Wisky 14, Aub 28 LOSS
Ore 30, Minny 31 WIN (the Big 10's only win so far, a non-covering squeaker)

What a joke putting 8 Big 10 teams into the bowls!

Conversely, the WAC, Mountain West and MAC have gone a combined 6-1 straight up against their "superior" conference foes.

Bowling Green held their own against better teams in the Big 10 than Northwestern. Penn State should've blown NW out earlier this year and you wouldn't have seen the Cats in that bowl. A better team from that state should've gone (NIU).

Sparty and the Cheese are two of the biggest Jekyll and Hyde's in football. Sparty's numbers were inflated from blowing Penn St out at the end in a revenge game.

Minny was very good offensively and they played a similar type of game against Michigan...a team Oregon stomped on. They ended up on the RIGHT side of the decision column this time.

Big 10 is not as strong as the last couple of years but the top of the ladder is pretty strong. Don't judge them on just the weak links.

Duh, the Big 10 teams are there because they can guarantee so many ticket sales to the games.. smaller schools don't bring 30,000 fans - just about money not ability or fairness.

Iowa got crushed by the National Champions in the Orange Bowl last year.

I might agree with that statement.

Actually, I hope OHIO STATE is the only big-10 team that covers this year, and I have decidedly gone ANTI-BIG 10 in my plays. I am fading Iowa, Purdue and Michigan tomorrow. I especially like Georgia over Purdue as Purdue did not appear to have the talent and depth to step up in class to top 5 caliber when it mattered. Marc Richt has turned Georgia into a mini-Florida State. The SEC has looked SOLID in bowl games so far this year (Arkansas, Auburn). Tomorrow we have two Big 10 vs. SEC matchups in Purdue vs. Georgia and Florida vs. Iowa. We will know if the Big 10 is overrated or not after tomorrow...

Rail, we both know Miami was hosed last year, and if unbeaten, and giving their schedule, they were the Champs, and at best, I still want to want see Palmer play that Buckeye Defense..capable yes they were, but you must lay down this Hitler-esque Revisionist History of yours(The Holocaust happened, but USC winning Hardware didn't!)..USC isn't the Defending Champ, they aren't deserving of a piece of the Title this year if they win, though they are quite capable of earning it if were allowed that oppurtunity to try for it.

Rail, I am not biased, as you'll find in the College thread on this game, I actually went from lean Mich to USC 1st Half.

Maybe next year USC will skip getting lit before the Cal game, and then Carroll and Chow will finally get the West Coast out of the Bias that denied Washington the whole pie(I thought them superior to the Canes in '91) , and Oregon it's deserved shot at the Crown(they were hosed for Neb, even harder than USC was for OU).

Your beef is with the Big-12 & Big-10 backing media..chasing SEC teams is just gonna cost you.

P.S. I agree Rail, Iowa when "geeked up" can overcome some of it's incompleteness and play as well as any Big-10er.

How about make-up Bias?..USC stands to gain an AP Poll due to a lack of an unbeaten team this year, but Oregon whom was denied two years ago doesn't get anything for being the same team that USC is this year..a passing giant that lost a tough Conference game to a proximity foe.

I think the Harrington team was just as good as this USC squad(though USC has many more future NFL Paychecks), they just didn't get to play in the Title Game in a year where Miami had one of the Top 10 NCAA teams of All-Time.

Hmm last I checked, the national championship game featured 2 undefeated teams & USC was far from undefeated.

Big Ten is the best conference in College football. To call the big Ten a joke is one of the stupidest things I've heard.

Big Ten is a good conference, but they're definitely overrated. Too many people in the media (Beano Cook) grew up during the glory days of Midwest (Michigan, Ohio St, Notre Dame) football. Until these guys retire, the Big Ten is always gonna get too much hype.

As for Ohio St, I can't believe it took them so long to finally win another title. They have one of the best recruiting situations in the nation. Other than Cali/Texas/Fla, you could argue that Ohio has the best talent in America. And Ohio St is the only major D-1 program in the state! They have a BIG advantage when recruiting Ohio prospects.

Iowa and Ohio State salvaged the bowl season for the conference this year.

Impressive wins by both squads.

The Big 10 had an outstanding year in the bowls last year.

The BIG 10 was, is, and always will be a strong football conference no matter what the naysayers say.

Maybe not the best all the time in any given year, but solid year in and year out.

ps-Best TV package of any conference too.
