Just got laid off

In college, assistant manager of a retail store. Just got freaking laid off because the company isn't making budget. My store was 100,000+ over budget. Give me a break. If anybody is hiring in the VA/DC/MD area let me know!!

Must be nice.. I got a we'd love to keep you we pay $6.55 an hour part time. And they got a big FUCK YOU, so I guess I didn't get laid off, more like was forced to quit.

Got laid(retired) off in Aug. Have to do 3 job searches a week for Washington state umemployment money. So I have done about 70 job contacts and so far just 2 interviews and in both of those they told me they had so many people applying. Times are tough and going to get worst I think. Up here Boeing has announced about 5000 lay off and Microsoft is rumored to be announcing a BIG one also. GOOD luck

One thing is with the economy in the toilet there are some good extensions on unemployment compensation so you will be able to collect for awhile. Hope you are in a state that pays well, some states are a JOKE on what their payouts are.

don't think i can collect unemployment considering they didn't "fire" me, they tried to demote me.. to a part time $6.55 an hour worker after i'd been making $35,000 a year salary. I declined that horrible option, thus I quit and wasn't fired.
