Side note I have literally lived all over the country and central Alabama was definitely the most integrated and least racist place I've ever lived. Ironically blue state Illinois is on the opposite side of that spectrum (and I have lived both rural and urban there).

That's actually what I was thinking - freeing all people is certainly worthy of a holiday but how many holidays do we really need - I'm pretty sure Biden will just move to eliminate one of the less important holidays like July 4th or Christmas

I was wondering why they didn't pick the day of the Emancipation Proclamation as the holiday. Seems like that would be the more appropriate time for a holiday. Then when I looked it up, it fell on New Year's Day. That ain't gonna work. Can't share such a major day/celebration with another holiday.

I've seen what you see. The South in general is much more integrated. Many cities in the North are far more segregated than what you see in general in the South. In the places I've been at least.

Because we have very generous social assistance programs, and that attracts people looking for that type of lifestyle. We don't give them enough to buy homes in the suburbs, so they congregate in urban areas.

Connecticut has the biggest disparity between haves and have nots in the country. Democrats tell us we're not doing enough, when the truth is we're doing too much. That's the primary reason democratic states are the highest tax states in the country.

I'm an advocate for safety nets, but I'm opposed to welfare careers because that ruins everything, especially for the people they're trying to help. Oh the irony I know, but the truth is in the results of LBJ's Great Society, the war on poverty put poverty on steroids
